Don't go around telling people you are a prolific, published scholar if YOU KNOW people won't find anything to the effect but thousands of posts on crummy forums in the company of gay teen pornographers, financial frauds, millists and other psychotherapy rejects...common sense...
I would agree with your view on Levicoff as a scholar - the publications of him I could trace in the internet do not point to him as a "scholar". I cannot say anything about his degrees but simply a degree alone does not make one a scholar. He is known for posting extremely unbalanced and hateful posts ad degreediscussion.com which is another point to doubt his profile as a a "scholar". By that alone, he is certainly not a "prolific, published scholar". Otherwise, his various forum contributions would be very much different from what they are.
I am from Germany and was born and raised there in the post World War II period (my age is 59 years by now). Germany is a country that has a very strong historical burden in the persecution of Jewish people and other minorities during the terrible Nazi period. So, I wish to state very clearly that the Jewishness of Levicoff should not play any role in consideration of that of what he is doing. I would take him as a human being like anyone else and consider his person and actions merely as such. That`s about all that I could say in his "favour".
From a European perspective, it is certainly not wrong to insist on more general regulations regarding distance learning in the USA. The US system is one based on the assumption on individual freedom but if that "freedom" goes that far to harm other people and their good rights under the same system, then there must be some regulations to keep the balance. I would not blame Levicoff for that either. And in Europe, such a position would hardly be considered "socialist".
The only problem is that Levicoff does not seem to be a very credible advocator of the points he makes - too much zealotry, hardly any good reason (rational elements), and truthfulness in his posts. He also seems to display some personality traits that make him as human as anyone else -
he is intolerant and calls other people all to quickly "wazoos", "shysters", etc. , and he even doubts the right of new posters to a forum to offer their opinions (his response to a preacher from Texas was " another new wazoo here who thinks he needs to post here" (this quote is as far as I can remember it) that he claims for himself. Not a very nice, trustworthy, genuine and balanced person that would be easy to get along with and whose language is insulting, offending with opinions more than often not too rational - but all this has got nothing to do with his Jewishness or what else he may be; they are the personality traits of an imperfect human being as we all are.
