Of course you are referring to comments made by former Clinton secretary of state Madeleine Albright (nee Marie Jana Korbelová, PhD Columbia, daughter of Jewish Czech diplomat Josef Korbel, after whom the U of Denver’s school of international studies is named).
In response to a question that repeated Iraqi propaganda about the “half a million” Iraqi children who purportedly died as a result of UN sanctions, Albright stated “we think the price is worth it.”
Albright was too dumb to challenge the false premise of the question. Gollin is too callous to care. The price is always worth it to him, as long as someone else is paying it.
If it promotes Gollin, damn the facts, damn the ethics, and damn the cost to nameless, faceless black people in some foreign country. If helping a Liberian bribery/extortion/shakedown racket gets him another plastic trophy, it’s worth it. He doesn’t throw back the little ones, and the more he tells the story the bigger the fish gets.
