HUNTSVILLE, AL -- Police reports show that in 2002, UAH shooting suspect Amy Bishop punched a woman in the head for not giving her child a booster seat at a restaurant, all the while yelling, "I am Dr. Amy Bishop."

In March of that year, Bishop went to an International House of Pancakes in Massachusetts with family and asked for a booster seat for one of her children, according to The Boston Globe. When she found out another mother had gotten the seat, she walked over to the woman, demanded the seat and yelled profanities at her, according to the police report.

When the woman refused to give up the seat, she punched her in the head and yelled "I am Dr. Amy Bishop."

The Globe said Bishop received probation and prosecutors recommended that she be sent to anger management classes. It's unclear if she ever went. The victim in the assault declined to talk to the Boston newspaper.

This story shows the big lie being offered by UAH, that since Bishop wasn't charged for slaughtering her brother with a shotgun blast to the heart, no criminal background check would have discovered her aberrant past.

The truth seems to be that they never bothered to do a criminal background check in the first place. So obviously they missed the IHOP baby seat punchout (which would have been discovered) because they never looked!

No Criminal Background Check for UAH Shooting Suspect

Huntsville - University of Alabama in Huntsville President Dr. David Williams says the professor accused in his school's fatal rampage underwent a standard academic background check when hired 7 years ago, but no criminal background check. Williams points out Dr. Amy Bishop-Anderson's recently unearthed legal issues would not have turned up in a criminal background check, because she was not charged with crimes.

The Boston Globe has reported un-named law enforcement official, as saying Bishop-Anderson and her husband were questioned in connection with a 1993 attempted mail bombing of a Harvard medical school professor. Thirteen years earlier, Bishop-Anderson accidentally shot and killed her brother in Massachusetts. Authorities there deny rumblings of a cover-up.

James Anderson, the suspect's husband, says he is bothered by the resurrection of "closed cases" linked to Bishop-Anderson. When asked if he believed his wife was capable of the crime she is accused of he said no, but went on to say "I don't know what broke."

Dr. Williams, without being specific, confirmed the suspect did not meet UAH's standards for tenure, and was scheduled to leave the school after this semester. Although 4 of the victims were minorities, UAH points out other 2 victims were white. UAH's president says he will not speculate about Bishop-Anderson's motive.
