Is Higher Education Involved in a Rico Conspiracy?

I have often wondered if higher education is involved in a conspiracy to keep individuals either from attending or using degrees from an unaccredited institutions. Are the supposed degree experts in distance education getting paid kick backs from institutions for perpetuating the myth involving distance education? You be the judge.

I like civil antitrust better.  E.g.,

Quote:Inasmuch as association antitrust violations can subject all association members to criminal and civil liability, members should be aware of the legal risks in regard to membership policy and industry self-regulation. Fair and objective membership requirement policies should be established. Membership policies should avoid:

1. Restrictions on dealing with non-members.

2. Exclusions from membership, especially if there is a business advantage in being a member.

3. Limitations on access to association information, unless the limitation is based upon protection of trade secrets.

Also,
Quote:Visa agreed to pay American Express $2.25 billion — $2.25 billion! — to settle an antitrust lawsuit.

A massive conspiracy to perpetuate an illegal trust. Sounds reasonable. Belittle and degrade non-members? Sure.

The worst case would be having board members of a group like CHEA attack totally legal state licensed unaccredited schools as part of a personal vendetta. But that would never happen.

It already has and its name is George Dana Gollin (George D. Gollin, George Gollin) trumpeting the name of his universiy professor title and CHEA for his alleged credibility.

No, the experts in the DL field are just well-meaning academics who want to prevent the general public from being defrauded. They have no financial interest in this issue whatsoever. That would be a conflict of interest and these gentlemen are all people of unquestioned integrity and honesty.   Tongue

Seriously Ray, do you think that your backchannel communication with Gollin helps matters or do you think that it just allows the real villains to obfuscate the situation further? Don't think for a second that GG won't take every opportunity to try to unleash the pack of idiots from DD on you. Remember that DD was Gus Sainz' creation and formed in his image - character assassination, innuendo, "outing", stalking, scurrilous attacks, holding up to public ridicule, etc. are de rigueur.

Dear Little Arminius,

You are obviously brain washed by the RA gang. Are you a Gollin, Bear and Gus wannabe? You are sure trying to rack up the brownie points with the clan. I am not the least concerned about Gollin or any of the other idiots on Degree Discussion. I will proceed forward in an effort to disclose the truth. Wait until you see what I disclose in the coming months.

It looks like he thought your first paragraph was serious and never finished reading your email.

A (big) part of the problem rests with supporters or clients of 'alternative' Rolleyes schools as well.
First, the divide should be made clear between those who pursue a real education and those who just want to pull a fast one (whether for mere novelty purpose or malicious intent ); this divide will never be made clear, because buyers of milled degree (who have no interest in education ) will rarely -if ever- admit they only wanted to pull a fast one.

Second, it is incongruous to criticize accredited schools or accreditation on the basis of some 'freedom in academia' or libertarian argument AND then argue in favor of some dodgy school 'accredited' Rolleyes from Sierra Leone, East Timor or Congo; or pull out of one's exhaust some weird acronym to mean some 'mysterious' (but accredited) PLAR provision from Rwanda.
