It seems he is trying to be somebody by making claim to the work done by the FBI in going after SRU.  He may well be sending in stuff he finds on the internet, but, anyone can send in information to the FBI. You or I can can call them or mail things, e-mail them. They take leads from anyone who wishes to contact them. But that doesn't make someone a junior FBI agent. Gollin is just another wannabe who wants to be noticed. I imagine having a wife who is the man of the family is unmaning, especially to such as him. So we get Gollin (Mill Busting Man).  If it makes him feel better about not being successful, in his chosen field (physics) so be it. But you can't make a Pinto into a Cadilac by painting it over in hype pink.
