Quote:Unbelievable that a judge would even allow this to go to trial.Agree. I would have expected a judge to toss the complaint on the first demurrer.
With a default (as apparently occurred here) it's not uncommon for parties to stipulate for relief in return for filing an answer only (rather than a demurrer or similar motion challenging the sufficiency of the complaint). But in that case I would expect a summary judgment motion to be filed the following week. Unless there is something not apparent from the story, this is a plaintiff doing her absolute best to become a public figure. No way a couple of lame internet insults turn into a libel case.
Quote:Richie's attorney, Alexis Mattingly...
She's either the worst defense attorney in the world or she got the worst judge. Some (certainly now former) clerk or secretary might have mis-calendared a filing deadline. The guys in the office are no doubt rolling their eyes and going "she's going to trial on that???"
Quote:The caption says she had sex with every member of the team.
The Bengals ought to sue. No NFL player is that hard up.
Quote:Jones, a onetime teacher who pleaded guilty to having sex with her 17-year-old former student . . .is arguing that the posts tarnished her reputation . . . .

Reminds me of that Monty Python "Killer Joke" routine. Anybody who could cook up an insult severe enough to damage that whore's reputation should be required to register their keyboard as a deadly weapon.
