Doesn't this woman know she is privileged to participate in the "gold standard" of education??? Surely that is more important than landing some silly job, where you might have to actually work for a living.

NEW YORK (AP) - A New York City woman who says she can't find a job is suing the college where she earned a bachelor's degree.
Trina Thompson filed a lawsuit last week against Monroe College in Bronx Supreme Court. The 27-year-old is seeking the $70,000 she spent on tuition.
Thompson says she's been unable to find gainful employment since she received her information technology degree in April.
She says the Bronx school's Office of Career Advancement hasn't provided her with the leads and career advice it promises.
Monroe College spokesman Gary Axelbank says Thompson's lawsuit is completely without merit.
The college insists it helps its graduates find jobs.

While the lawsuit IS frivolous, I wish there were more.
It is high time schools and their cohort of servile journalists, researchers and swindlers stop making outrageous claims they KNOW they will NOT keep.
All those "get degree X, earn Y more per year" claims are futile and misleading.
$70.000?
Hell, a full accredited B.A without transfer credit costed me around €10.000...with transfer credit I think I can get two more -accredited- for another 5000€, online of course.

With Athabasca, 40@3credit courses for non-canadians cost Can$924x40=36960=34300US$=half of what she spent at a third rate school anyways...
So yes, she probably got nice auditoriums, football, soccer-ball, gym, medical center, 71 student associations, 24 restaurants open 24-7, basketball, cricket, hockey, you name it...and she paid for it.
I don't recall where, but someone posted an article or something claiming in a poll that the fact that football team -if any- played at the college made a huge difference in students' perception of the school...amazing...

The
current tuition rate at Monroe is $5,472 per semester flat rate (12-18 credits). So if it took her the standard 8 semesters her total would be $43,776 at the current rate.
Although something tells me Ms. Thompson might have had to repeat a few courses (or semesters), so the price might have been more for her.
Compared to some of the better known schools in the NYC area (e.g., Fordham, Columbia) not a bad deal price-wise. But you have to wonder about the "bang for the buck" factor. I'm no East Coaster but who ever heard of Monroe College? I would have guessed Monroe, Louisiana if asked. (Or properly,
University of Louisiana at Monroe)
In fact, the ULM
online program (fees same resident or non-resident) charges $2,011.95 for 12 hours and above, according to the
fall fee undergrad schedule. Using the same standard 8 semesters, that's only $16,095.60.
As you say, ham, it really is high time that students learned to think differently.

There are many cheap accredited online schools, namely Adams State and others.
The main issue is thinking out of the box and realizing that traditional B&M schools make you pay big even for what you don't need.
