The Arcana Society of Quinn Tyler Jackson - another intellectual abortion by Quinn
#1
I found this on the Internet:

“Arcana Society

Founded in July 1999 by Quinn Tyler Jackson, The Arcana Society bills itself as the Why-IQ Society. In addition to a 98th percentile score on an IQ/IEQ test, the society asks for documented proof that you are actively engaged in the pursuit of solutions to thoroughly difficult problems, or seeking understanding of the deeper questions of life. The Arcana Society was dissolved in November or December 1999 due to time pressures of its founder.”

So, this bullshit group of Quinn’s folded right fast, only after four months.  Let’s guess why.  Was it due to:

a)  no one, not even Quinn, could document their alleged pursuit of “thoroughly difficult problems”.
b)  the new members quickly found out what a douchebag Quinn is, and all quit.
c)  Quinn kept forgetting how to spell “IQ” in correspondence.  He’d write “eye-koo”, and the membership got quickly disillusioned with their “founder”.
d)  Quinn mistakenly admitted the LOWER 98th percentile, so a load of retards came to the meetings.
OR
e)  the founder’s “time pressures” were really “time-of-James-Harris pressures”, and so Quinn just couldn’t concentrate.

I vote for (e).

This fourth-tier elitism makes me laugh...
so this superior intellect had nothing better to do than posting on forums, instead of solving 'the riddle of induction'?

Interesting point you made.

Well, I'm easy to spot - my posts almost always have the terms "fuck" or "die" next to "Quinn Tyler Jackson" or within three words of each other.

The good ol' Internet will keep my posts circulating for POSTerity!  Ha!

Good research, Neilist.  Thanks for sharing that and staying (more or less) on target.  We appreciate your enthusiasm if not always your way of expressing it.  I'm sure you will find many others out there equally deserving of your scrutiny.

For those of us who don't follow the other boards, what is the genesis of your beef with Quinn?  It appears he may have attempted some sort of exclusion of you or your commentary on another board?  As we have seen at DI and DD, people with the weakest arguments are the first to exclude opposing views.

Ah, I see you covered it here.  For a guy who spends so much time whining about how he is mistreated by others, the Jackass doesn't seem to understand that it's a two-way street, does he?

You're right, but there's more to the story. I'll try to be brief:

An infamous crank named James Harris was viciously harassing some poor defenseless mathematicians, and Harris posted supposed mathematical proofs and theorems to sci.math, and abused anyone questioning Harris' work, especially since they would repeatedly point out Harris' mistakes and errors in reasoning.

When Harris had a mathematical paper rejected by a publisher, Quinn Tyler Jackson claimed that the paper was reviewed by a "closed list" who found no errors.

When I and others challenged this claim, Quinn became evasive, insulting, and condescending. His "closed list" were presumably fellow members of the high-IQ Mega Foundation, which supposedly also included James Harris. And Quinn said he was a friend of James Harris.

So not only was Quinn and the "closed list" biased in favor of their friend Harris, Quinn repeatedly rebuffed any scrutiny or corroboration of his own outlandish claim that the Harris paper was reviewed and found to be error free.

Quinn can't win, since if his claim is false, Quinn lied. But if his claim is true, then that self-proclaimed high-IQ society couldn't find errors in James Harris' paper which "real" mathematicians easily found and characterized as obvious errors.

In fact, I believe that Quinn basically LIED about any such review, and was just providing cover for his buddy James Harris as a third-party, to give Harris some credibility.

Both then and now, Quinn is intellectual dishonest, and he acts like an asshole.

But Quinn also forgets that both people and the Internet have long memories.

Ya reap what ye sow!

Thanks for that, Neilist.  Clearly a rigged game.  Again, you would think that Quinn of all people would want to bring some transparency to the process.  Apparently he learned his ethics and social skills from George Gollin, probably during one of their intimate sessions.

And you are campaigning against that?!
I have busted countless trolls, benders & liars online.
Ok, they are people who would rather benefit from licensed psychotherapy, yet the internet proves far more inexpensive.
I can attest no matter how far fetched the claims might be, every troll or unsavory internet poster WILL find at least a few other internet posters to back him up; then we can speculate whether those are real third parties or the troll's spare alias.
One blatant example is Thomas Chip White, for ages hailed as lord protector and benign savior of distance learning, lion heart among the righteous (=oddballs like uncle Janko ).
They supported him but didn't pay attention to the fact lion heart is a gay teen porn king...

That the nub of it - some people who advocate transparency are hypocrites, especially when the transparency and scrutiny focuses on them.

What really touched me off was the term "closed list". It's a too convenient way of shutting down discourse. Besides being elitist, it is condescending and evasive. Typical of Quinn.

You have a lot of nerve talking about ethics ... "Albert Hidel" ...

An anonymous poster supporting another anonymous poster.

Do you know who you are so lovingly patting on the shoulder?

A creep who would post this -- putting my name in the subject line so that all future searches would bring it up:

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.educa...ode=source

Support the kind of slime who would post that attempt to smear my name ... and then talk about "ethics."

That's beyond hypocrisy.

Cowards who commit their libel under cover of "anonymity" without any regard for the consequences in terms of the human wreckage this kind of libelous crap can cause.

Ethics my ass. You wouldn't know the decent thing to do if it came up and handed you fifty bucks.
