Of course no-one actually believes that the civil war had anything to do with slavery. It had everything to do with the states' right to leave the Union.
The immediate cause of the war was the shelling of Fort Sumter. The Union did not recognize the secession of the states so considered it an act of war. I don't notice the word slavery in any of this. The word popped up a couple years later.
The North treated the South like dog crap and when they quit decided to kill them in large numbers so they could get them back and treat them like dog crap again.
