Quote:The theory of Khazarian origin of Ashkenazi Jews flies in the face of over 2,000 years of historical record of Jews in Europe of Middle Eastern origin. While the written record may have gaps, it would be a fair assumption that a Jewish population in a location in say 800 AD would be descended from a Jewish population in the same area 400 years earlier. I don't think anyone denies that there couldn't be a Khazari element in Jewish populations of Eastern Europe. A hint of the Ashkenazi's intermediate origin is that they spoke Yiddish, a German dialect.
That does not hold water.
If it held water, Saddam had a right title to claim Mesopotamia back...after all, aren't ruins of ancient mesopotamian empires in Irak?
Or Mussolini had a rightful claim to all the territory of the ancient Roman empire...isn't there enough archaeological, fossil, linguistic you name it evidence to support his claim? Hey! After all, Rome is in Italy and who lives in Rome? Romans do...therefore Italy shall rule from Britannia to Egypt again...
In the middle ages, Charlemagne re-founded a Roman Empire in Europe, but he was as Roman as you are...zero %. In Italy as well, you won't find any 'Roman' blood...Arabs, Albanians, Levantines [those who look like philipinos today] in the south, Germanic invaders and Asian tribes (Avars etc) in the north.
Why would this logic escape to or not apply to Jews escapes me.
The French-speaking community in Quebec and NB integrated many Scottish or Irish elements, who may now or then have considered themselves Canadiens-francais.

consciousness, this emergence of a Judaising terrain and Judaising milieu in all their widely varied, conscious
and unconscious manifestations, as a filling of the Jewish space which encompasses the creation of a Virtual
Jewishness, a Virtual Jewish World by non-Jews Virtual Jews.
It is they who, in the absence of significant Jewish populations create a sort of parallel universe by
performing or taking over cultural and other activities which would ordinarily be carried out by Jews. (There are
about 35,000 known Jews in Italy; 5,00020,000 in Poland; 4,000 in Slovakia; 10,000 in Austria. Thanks to
immigrants from the former Soviet Union, the Jewish population in Germany has doubled in the 1990s to
100,000.) Some non-Jews go so far as to wear stars of David around their necks, assume Jewish-sounding
names, attend synagogue, send their children to Jewish schools, establish twin cities relationships with Israeli
towns, in addition to championing Jewish causes.
The people in the red quote will probably be telling their children of their illustrious family back from the time of Solomon.
