Just depends on who is telling the joke. Here's one about a music prof who made his students sing a non-socialist approved version of "Ol' Man River."
Saint Mary's punishes professor for choosing racist song
Not clear if it was Oscar Hammerstein's original "n-word" lyrics or one of the many revised versions ("darkies," "colored" etc.). Pedopedia has a good discussion of the modifications made by various artists to the original to avoid offending black, white, rich, poor and unduly sensitive others over time.
Prof got disciplined, had to take diversity training and was forced to apologize. This going to go down in your permanent record...
Like Twain's Huckleberry Finn, some Stephen Foster songs ("'Tis summer, the darkies are gay"), and any number of other literary and artistic works from earlier times, the original versions used terms that were common for the era. It seems like a good history lesson to explain the context, although you would expect that college students might be able to deal with the temporal anomaly.
It doesn't appear the prof was using the original lyrics for some derisive or insulting purpose, unlike the jew joke by Obummer's security advisor. The prof isn't making or enforcing national political policy either, but he had to eat crap, so it seems that Joker Jones ought to be forced to do the same. I see Jones has already issued an apology, but when is he going for his diversity indoctrination?
