...the BACK TO AFRICA PROGRAM...

Remember that TV show that Richard Pryor had (briefly) years ago?  There was this very funny bit he did about an evangelist doing a telethon, only he wasn't getting any traction with the viewing audience.  

He would preach for awhile and then say, "Remember, every dollar you send in goes to the civil rights movement!"  The phones were completely quiet.  

Then he would preach a little more and then say, "Remember, every dollar you send in goes to help underprivileged children in the inner city."  Nothing doing, all phones silent.  

So he preaches a little more and then says, "Remember, every dollar you send in goes to the B.T.A.M.  That stands for the Back To Africa Movement!"  RING, RING, RING, RING, RING, RING!

Actually some great marketing lessons there.  Know your audience, check your demographics before you buy the time, and
adapt quickly to changing or unanticipated circumstances.  And as every politician knows, sell what people are buying, even if it's not what you really believe in.
