Not far-fetched at all. Funny how obsolete leftist nimrods like SNL are busy with the not-so-subtle putdowns of UoP. They obviously are living in the past, not realizing the modern world has passed them by so far and so fast that they still think they are funny (or even relevant). Typical of the pseudo-intellectuals stuck in their New Deal era elitism.
For whatever UoP's faults may be (and they apparently are many), they make higher education accessible to literally everyone (or at least everyone who can figure out how to pay for it), something the fancy schools have never done and never will do.

This is where the author gets off track. UoP lacks transparency and resists regulatory oversight? He must not realize that as a publicly-traded company Apollo has to answer not only to the lame accredi-taters but the far more demanding SEC as well. Unlike non-profits (like the author's employer), they get everything but a proctoscope from the feds.
Lack of tenure is a drawback? For whom? Undermotivated and overpaid profs?
Little concern for academic freedom? What is the basis for that? No Ward Churchills and Bill Ayers types among the faculty? No gay student union or socialist crapheads indoctrinating online students?
