It was our own Don Dresden who, back in May of 2008 said this:
So far Obama is well below the Mendoza Line and fading fast. If Jackie Robinson had been hitting .180 at the All-Star break in 1947 it's a safe bet he would have quickly finished up his career back in Montreal with Chuck Connors, Tommy Lasorda and all the other near misses.
Obama is an over-rated rookie who was all hype and no talent. A lot of people were hoping that as The First Black President he might be something special, the way Robinson was in baseball.
But the difference is that Robinson was tested and proven at the highest levels of minor league baseball, in multiple sports at the highest levels of college athletics, and had even stood up to the entire US Army to fight racism. He had already shown he had the skills and character of a hero before he ever stepped onto a baseball field with the Dodgers.
At least Mario Mendoza could play big league defense, a talent that kept him in the major leagues for nine seasons (Robinson only played 10). Obama is showing he has no big league skills and no likelihood of developing any, which should earn him a bus ticket back to the minors in 2012, if not sooner. He's rapidly overtaking Jimmy Crater as the Worst President Ever, and after the next congressional elections in 2010 he may well be honored as The First Black President To Be Impeached.
