That is true. Dixie is doing three years for what, at the very worst, should have been an FTC cease-and-desist order and (maybe) a fine.
These were thoroughly trumped up charges pursued strictly for political reasons: to pacify the higher education cartel and their multi-billion dollar endowments.
No customers were even complaining about their transactions, at least not until the feds started trying to hunt some down (what did they finally get, like eight?).
The trial judge was on the board of trustees of her largest regional competitor. Gee, motion to suppress denied? I wonder why?
Gollin and his pals have done more harm to the legal system than any harm Dixie might have done to higher education. The public ought to view this case as a good education in how the US legal system really works.
That is, just how arbitrary these prosecutions are, just how unethical the government is in pursuing its victims (e.g., stealing files and then lying about it), just what a rigged game the entire process is from investigation to prosecution to adjudication, and how a wealthy cartel can manipulate the system to put its competitors not only out of business but behind bars.
In Gollin you have some over-educated, self-important clown who never held a real job or operated a business in his life. He stirs up idle feds who apparently found guarding the border too dangerous or complex. They drop the full weight of the government onto a woman who successfully ran a small but reputable online real estate school, and who thought she could expand her horizons (just like the American dream says we should).?
And in fact, she succeeded in establishing an accredited (if only briefly) online college. I'm not saying it was perfect, but the more money you have the closer you can afford to come to perfection. Given enough time she probably would have ironed out the kinks and been allowed a seat at the big people's table.
What business has Gollin ever succeeded in? Begging money to compile his lies into a book nobody will ever buy? Begging money is not a "business," even if the bums that sleep in the dumpsters behind the 7-11 think so. Having your government paycheck deposited in your bank account every two weeks is not a "business."?

I agree. Keep the posts, can the poster.

And this is different from his usual condition how?
