I do not believe there is ANYWHERE a place where a language is spoken exactly as it was 2000 years ago. I once watched a documentary explaining how different Christian sects look at short, selected bible passages...hardly surprising, there were huge differences in both translation and interpretation...sadly enough, no 2000 years old scribe is there to set them straight. It is a bit like string theory...everyone has his own. An example? The word 'idiot' comes from ancient Greek to mean 'private citizen'...and one of the supposed origins of 'cretin' is 'christian'...
