Ever wonder where Klempner got the notion that stalking and threatening innocent people was "delightful"? Here's Klempner bragging about his grandmother's shameful participation in the ILGWU extortion ring:
The word "sabotage" comes from the practice by striking French railway workers of cutting the "sabot," the metal retaining shoe that held railroad tracks in place.
The extortionate arsenal of union strikers also includes murder, arson, assault, battery, vandalism and every other imaginable crime against person and property.
Well, considering that his pappy was a black-listed communist, maybe union goon doesn't seem so bad in comparison.
Also, contrary to Klempner's typically false speculation that the "Look for the Union Label" song was written by Woody Guthrie, in fact it is credited to Paula Green (lyrics) and Malcolm Dodds (music).
But it actually is a rip off of a song written by Jerome Kern, "Look for the Silver Lining." Kern also wrote "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" and "Ol' Black Magic,"? among many others. Since the poor guy died in 1945 the union probably figured that just saved them the trouble of breaking his thumbs or murdering him when they stole his song.

Quote:My grandmother's high school started at 8 pm. It was called "night school." She could have slept in, but for some wacky reason, she chose instead to sew neckties in a sweat shop from 7 am to 7 pm every day.http://www.degreediscussion.com/forums/v...102#p52048
(Later she was an organizer for the ILGWU. Does anyone else remember their charming TV spots from the 70s and 80s.
I think Woody Guthrie may have written the song.

Quote:According to the National Institute for Labor Relations Research (NILRR), more than 10,000 incidents of union violence have been reported in America's newspapers, and on television and radio, since 1975.http://www.nrtwc.org/fuva109.pdf
But media-reported union violence constitutes only the tip of the iceberg. Samplings of police and company records collected by NILRR and other scholars indicate that 80-90% of violent union incidents are never reported in the media.
When combined, reported and unreported incidents of union vandalism, assault and battery, arson, and even murder may number over 100,000!
