When all DD has to offer is negativity, people soon lose interest.

They have been dead from the neck up for years.

Gus should rename it "Stalker Chat" and he might get a few more like-minded posters.

"Cartel Shill Board" might be more accurate, although that probably would only appeal to the same deviants who post there now.

Well, places where you cannot think differently under pain of character assassination or similar typically end up either empty, or with the usual bunch of 'funny' internet people talking to one another.
A gigantic forum in another field -made of dozens sub-forums- is now quiescent after endless occurrences of the next bunch of keyboard sociopaths coming to town to exact revenge on their e-foes.
In just one day a couple of "super-moderators" deleted 1500 (yes 1500) posts & threads that displeased them; another psychotherapy reject lobbied to be appointed moderator to settle the score with his (real or imaginary) e-foes, to be later removed from the position.

Another forum in another domain had grown to be the best and was even consistently featured on TV niche shows. After a few years of "super-moderators" and wars between cliques, the forum is now dead and abandoned...even the owner could no longer control the chaos, so he forgot about it and moved on in life. Needless to say every prima donna set up his own forum in harsh competition with one another...which reminds me that out of the diaspora of a dating-related forum i posted on many years ago at least a dozen forums arose, each staffed by prime donne and their cronies...

Well, online.degree.net presently has 117 (2 members and 115 guests) ... and that's with Johann still in semi-retirement!  Big Grin

As of this morning, 3/29/09, there hasn't been a substantive post in DD's Distance Learning forum since 3/16/09. (I'm not going to count the unusual post by newcomer El Cheapo on 3/17) Once again, Sainz has been posting quotes and links for various DL-related topics while Jack Tracey continues to provide just links.

Is it possible that Uncle Janko's untimely passing has left that forum without any real soul and core values? I have often remarked that Janko was the éminence grise at DD, but it appears that he was much, much more. His posts set the tone for the discussions that followed. Most of the others fell immediately into line while a few, like vinny123, reflexively opposed anything Unc stood for.

Can they go on? Maybe, but Gus has been deballed by the weight of his financial problems, Jack is simply too lazy to post anything other than links, Bear is too busy circle dancing, Gollin is the quintessential one trick pony and the rest (Jonathan Whatley, Hungry Ghost, Poimen, etc.) are lightweights. Compounding that is the effect of the departure of Rich Douglas from the DL scene and the defection of the always helpful Ted Heiks to DI.

Will DD be around one year after Uncle J's death? It sounds like we should take a poll.

I keep waiting to copy the message "one user online" - me. Then I would officially issue the death certificate. Unfortunately Gus must be permanently logged on so 2 seems to be the minimum.

Cause of death - it only exists to abuse others, providing nothing even remotely useful.

Is there anything at DD other than Vinny worth reading? I love how he just drilled that retard Dayson a new one. Dayson has been doing the same lame routine for years, restating the obvious, making vacuous pronouncements and adding nothing of substance to discussions that are going nowhere in the first place. This is just a classic rip by Vinny:

http://www.degreediscussion.com/forums/v...=30#p52128

Quote:Hungry Ghost: All of the CSUs in California are already regionally accredited. None of them are applying for DETC accreditation.

Vinny: Brilliant revelation!

Hungry Ghost: California Southern University (formerly known as SCUPS) has applied to DETC. I don't think that anyone, even DETC, knows whether it will be accredited. The accreditor is still going over it.

Vinny: Are you suffering from echolalia? You are once again repeating what has been stated ad infinitum.

Hungry Ghost: Personally, I'd guess that Cal Southern probably will be approved by DETC at some point.

Vinny: "At some point"? My friend Nostradmus would have laughed his head off regarding your"insightful" stradling-the-fence predictions.

Hungry Ghost: It seems to be as credible as some of the other schools that DETC's accredited. But I don't know how long that process might take. The pattern seems to be for DETC to induct only a handful of schools at each meeting. I also can't say what changes Cal Southern might have to make to satisfy DETC. The school might have to drop some programs.

Vinny: Very deep and probing insights ! Have you thought about a profession as an Oracle?

Hungry Ghost: There's not really a whole lot that any of us can say with assurance at this point. Everyone will just have to wait and see.

Vinny: Really? You mean that we just have to wait and see? What perspicacious insight and advice. Thank you so very much

Why aren't the clones piling on Vinny with their usual cluster fuck zeal? Could it be that after all these years they finally noticed that they are irrelevant, immaterial and just plain wrong???

There are 2 now - one of them is the Yahoo[bot]. The bot isn't all that discriminating.
