Quote:SALEM Oregon State Police troopers used a stun gun to arrest a Halsey man Sunday after a bizarre pursuit along Interstate 5.
Troopers responded to a complaint of an erratic driver about 9:30 a.m. south of Salem.
A trooper tried to stop the vehicle, which was weaving in the northbound traffic lanes and traveling at speeds that fluctuated between 30 and 80 mph, police said.
At one point, the driver appeared to try to ram a disabled vehicle on the freeway shoulder, police said. The driver also threw a baby's car seat and several pieces of clothing out of the window as he drove, police said.
With police behind him, the motorist allegedly tried to drive through the freeway's dirt center median, but became stuck. The driver then got out of the car and took off his shorts, leaving him completely naked, police said.
Police said the man dropped to his knees and screamed while refusing troopers' directions. To keep the man from running into traffic and to gain compliance, a trooper shot him with a Taser stun gun.
