To be clear on the reasoning behind the name (despite the whole "your university" explaination which I've heard as well), the decision not to change the name to something more reputable sounding was quite simply; name recognition. SUPRISE! A company concerned with profits really CAN make a business move. Seriously though, this came directly from Dr. Edith Neumman in an email exchange I had with her from Iraq.
Basically, TUI would lose much of its "Word of Mouth" marketing which had taken place up until the school was sold if it had dramtically changed its name. A rather smart (if not slightly uncool) decision. Now granted, the education is just as high quality (likely more so) as University of Phoenix or [insert online school with massive marketing budget] and its regional accredidation ensures that its degrees are good anywhere you transfer (accept maybe AACSB Business Schools). Truthfully, I can't say enough wonderful things about my experience there.
It would just be nice if the name were less "diploma milly" thats all. Maybe thene 'distracting' threads like this would dry up.
