Why all these rabid leftists in academia to begin with...?
I am afraid to suggest it might, just might, be the faecal byproduct of "making the world safe for democracy", you know the "good guys" won over the "bad guys" and stuff like that.
Now "conservatives" bereft of Japanese towns to carpet-bomb have discovered that the propaganda monster they created, with the rainbow tenors, diversity and all that stuff, can very well do without them...and soon it very likely will.
I ask: is the fault entirely Marx's? I doubt it.
