I wonder about the thought process of these people opposed to rebuilding New Orleans. Let's face it, the poor in N.O. were living in abject poverty. Hell, the reason that many didn't leave the city prior to Katrina despite the warnings was because they couldn't afford transportation out. Considering New Orleans location on the Gulf and the fact that it is located below sea level and will undoubtedly be hit by another hurricane in the future, isn't it better to permanently relocate those that have no home or economic prospects in New Orleans to a location where there is a need for unskilled workers?

Before the activists scream racism and discrimination, let's point out that the reason many were in N.O. in the first place was due to earlier government policies. (public housing, welfare, etc.) Doesn't it make sense for the government to enact policies that will encourage unemployed people to live in areas where they have a better chance of finding a job?
