Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because the townsmen wanted to rape the two messengers sent to Lot's house. In my opinion rape of any kind is bad and should be punished. That goes for rape in prisons by the way.
I dislike Alan Contreras but not because he is gay. I dislike him because he is a control freak who has libeled thousands of people by putting out a list of institutions which did not live up to his own standards of what he thought an institute of higher learning should be. He also drafted a law which forbade Oregon residents from putting information on their resumes which pertained to degrees which many have worked very hard to earn.
I know that I am a minority here but I am a libertarian and I believe people have a right to do what the hell they want as long as it does not hurt anyone else.
I try hard to not disrupt the flow of the conversations here however. This board has its own culture and its own norms and I respect that. I just happen to have my own beliefs.
By the way, I agree that Caligula was a strange dude, wasn't he. I remember I Claudius where John Hurt played that role. It is not known if he actually made a horse Senator but if he did it would not have been the wierdest thing the guy did.

Never said I disliked Contreras because he was "gay"...in fact I never said I disliked him at all....you are entitled to your opinion, that people can "do" whatever the hell they want"...as I can believe the way "I" WANT"...People have sex with blow up dolls, deal drugs/use drugs, even make it with "farm animals", and do a whole host of other socially deviant and "and less than wonderful things" in the community...as a Catholic/Christian, I follow the Church's teaching that it is immoral and an abomination to practice homosexuality...Scripture states in (Jude1:7 "Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication,and going after "strange" flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire"). Seems pretty clear to me Bison...you can rethink and re craft it any way you want, to conform to your own value system...it doesn't change or alter scriptures explicit meaning. Any dislike for Alan is because he has ruined peoples lives and livelihoods, all under the flag of a state that passed an "unconstitutional law"...you and I only part ways, that as a conservative, who believes in the words of sacred scripture, I personally feel this lifestyle is gravely sinful and disordered, you are o.k. with it, so be it. one more thing bison...I personally believe that "great virtue" comes to a person who resists the temptation, to act out in a homosexual manner...virtue comes in the struggle...I believe "gays" are all God's children, and He loves them also, but certainly does not approve of this lifestyle...God does not approve of heterosexuals who are "acting out", who are not married, this is also sinful, the sin of "fornication"...homosexuality is defined as an abomination though...when a man falls with a woman in carnal lust, at least the "act" follows the natural "order" of sexual transmission, between humans... as this act is the conduit for procreation...

I'm opposed to homosexuality being shown as another form of normal. Now saying this I still don't want to see church inspired attacks. Here is where I'm at on the subject, no legal rights being granted to them but no attempts to stamp it out, won't work. I feel we can safely leave this to God to sort out. After all he made the rules. We don't need a sex police but we damn sure don't need queers getting treated as normal or acceptable. My opinion.

I'm no Bible scholar, but think you have it backwards. Lot and his family were spared from destruction because Lot protected the travelers from the pervert mob. You may remember he even offered them his daughters instead, knowing full well the faggots had no use for women.
