The student is very eager to get "that" degree, as they feel it will be an adjunct toward a good career. Problems begin to surface when the student is ill equipped to function at the work-site, because the degree program taught them very little. Correct me if I'm wrong, but UOP and some other schools of this ilk, have been under a microscope lately because they seem to put the almighty dollar first, and the student second. If you spend 30 K on a masters degree, you want to have "MASTERY" of the subject you have the diploma in! When you have to produce at you're work-site and it is discovered you don't know squat, because the educational experience you just went through taught you next to nada, than what? If you just shelled out this much bank for a diploma and have learned little, what was the point?
The accreditation mafia seem to love U of Pheonix but I know one graduate with and MBA there and it did not get her very far.
If you google U of Pheonix with "Complaints" you will find a lot of stuff. Not all schools are perfect but this one seems to have more than its share of complaints.
