I'm told that the esteemed board of directors considered that early on when the forum was started, but ultimately rejected it.
If you look at the other boards, they wind up with more posts in the "political" and "off topic" sections than they have on distance learning and accreditation issues. (This most likely is because the "experts" and self-promoters posting there don't actually know anything about distance learning and accreditation issues.)
The belief was that since many of our DL and accreditation issues do have an integral political component, it wouldn't be difficult to discuss related political issues within the existing categories. And if a political issue wasn't related to those categories it probably wasn't relevant to the board's primary focus anyway.
Just as an example, the "global warming" fraud has been discussed here in the context of the academic fraud that accompanied the bogus "research." Obama's birth certificate fraud relates to the accompanying non-disclosure of his academic records and his socialist indoctrination in college. We even had a baseball discussion related to a player who once went to Harvard, which near as I could tell was the only thing education-related about it.
But I haven't seen anything deleted for being too far off topic (yet). If there's something you want to discuss, let fly!
