He refuses to admit to himself that people just see right through him and his bogus “research.” Random lies about random people who have nothing at all to do with any “diploma mills” is not research. Without 15 people to do his thinking for him he is helpless.
In one place Gollum says it’s “a gang of diploma mill thugs” revealing the embarrassing truth about him and his weird family. In another place Gollum says it’s just one person with a bunch of aliases. He obviously has no clue and is just making it up as he goes along, just like everything else he comments on.
If his wife knew he existed she would have left him already. It’s just a matter of time before she gets tired of seeing her own academic career dragged under the waves by the dead weight of his reckless hobby.
Eventually even the retrograde statists at UIUC will have had enough of him. At some point someone is going to listen when Robin Kaler says, “I told you this would happen.” Then they will finally get around to cutting all the scandal-ridden cancer out of the system.
