Higher Ed in Bankrupt Welfare State

Most don't realize Scandinavian countries -and Finland as a chief example- cashed sinecure from both USA&USSR during the long cold war. That helped those otherwise poor and marginal countries to propel their low population to unprecedented levels of parasitism (welfare). Kids would get their paycheck from the State, who deducted it from their parents' wages...if one wanted to live on his own but couldn't afford it, big brother would subsidize it. It wasn't by pure chance that the birthplace of "free sex" trend was Scandinavia...big brother took care of everything, so they were free to explore the maze of postmodern priorities...and they believed it was all their merit so long, it was/will be a disaster when the opposite starts to turn true.
They will probably have to revert to pre-WWII/pre-big brother mode: shepherds, seamen, fisheries...
