An historical example...
When Germany invaded Belgium, Belgian media had for some time attacked Germany in very strong terms.
Once the country was invaded, newspapers started to sing the praise of Germany.
Notably, an editorial by de Man, boss of no other than the socialist party, hailed the German victory as the most opportune treatment for the rotting and evil-doing Belgian society.
Later de Man took part in parlays (that went nowhere) to play second fiddle inside an 'emergency' government' ruled by local fascists including Degrelle.
Ah...
meanwhile Degrelle had been summarily arrested (in spite of his MP status), detained, beaten up and deported but would re-enter the scene 'on the right side'.
After the war, coats would turn again.
