The South African system of tertiary education contains many nuances with which you may not be familiar. Carefully note the exact title of degree programs as most terms are not interchangeable. For example, the DPhil, PhD and DLitt et Phil are distinct degree programs with different prerequisites and requirements even though they may be offered in the same subject area.
