Why then was the BACK TO AFRICA program from the 1830s sabotaged by Yankees?
I must have bought the wrong book...
I thought the war was about overpowering central power wanting to end the rule of Southern elites and their economic supremacy...
I am wrong on many things as well...I suppose the war in Irak & Afghanistan was not about oil, opium and geopolitics of power but about bringing miniskirts, barber's shop and cable porn TV to 'oppressed' civilians...
They should censor Bond movie 'Living Daylights', then...for Talibans are portrayed as friendly 'freedom fighters'...
Lincoln did free the slaves - a fact. The civil war was not fought to free anyone. The slavery thing was just one justification for a power struggle.
The basis for the war in Iraq was simple stupidity. The war in Afghanistan was justified and a necessary response to an attack. I don't think that power politics or economic considerations were even considered.
