Don Dresden Wrote:When Tuoro University International changed their name to TUI University I wondered what they were thinking. WTF is a TUI? Sounds kinda like a reaction to catarrh: "ptooey."
Apparently a "tui" is some sort of New Zealand bird, "one of the largest members of the diverse honeyeater family."
Not exactly an inspiring image on a par with, say, the Thunderbird School.
But then I ran across this:

I know there's a lot of folks with "degrees" from Budweiser U, but now I'm seeing that TUI name in a whole new "lite."
"Distracting the boys from the task at hand since 1889."
This is great work Don. The TUI brewery is not far up the line from where we live. Every time we go past we look for those gorgeous females in the river. The advert has been running on TV here for some time and is considered one of the best. So much so that I don't drink any other beer! Sadly, we are lead to believe that the ladies in the ad are not Kiwi's - they are South American. But who cares?
The TUI (Prosthemadera novaeseelandiae) is also a spectacular endemic NZ bush bird and because they have adapted well to a changing environment they are one of the few endemic birds with a growing population. They make a very distinctive and beautiful sound. We are fortunate to have lots of them around us.
