According to what is being said at Toelicker Central, the accreditation problems concern "governance."
Quote:The HLC is very concerned about governance and how decisions are made. Asking for copies of minutes of each meeting says, "we are watching you and want to ensure this is a real board not a kangaroo board that serves at the pleasure of the owner."http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread....post273357
So if the problems concern "governance," and Hecht has been governing overtly right up until a few months ago (and covertly probably still is), who is NCACS concerned with?
Likewise, if the problem is finances, and the school isn't allowed to make Title IV loans because of Hecht's past problems, and the school can't compete with real schools for students as a result, who is the source of the problem?
Hecht is the problem, so it's tough to discuss the situation and not discuss Hecht.
Does Bear have a hard on for Hecht? It would seem so. But leaving Bear and his braying donkey squad out of the equation, Hecht is still a problem.
As someone who supports distance learning and legit non-traditional education, I'd like to see NCU succeed. I have no doubt that many of the obstacles tossed in their way, and a good portion of the criticism, are the result of traditional interests doing their best to see innovation fail. But for innovation to succeed it needs to function properly, and NCU doesn't seem to be functioning efficiently for anyone other than Hecht's bankers.
