If you look at Google maps, the area south of Lee/Emancipation Park is the "Downtown Mall," where Main Street is closed off to vehicular traffic. The only southbound street open through the mall is 4th Street NE, the one-way street the antfarm rioters had blocked at Water. (2nd Street NW also passes through the mall, but one-way northbound only.) Anybody forced by the police to head south from the park would have to go down 4th Street.
As the aerial shot from the drone clearly shows, the antfarm had only blocked this one intersection, but they effectively controlled all traffic south of the park between Ridge St/McIntyre Rd on the west and 9th St SE on the east. This was a totally planned event, facilitated by the cops. Dodge Boy's white ass was in a sling as soon as he turned down that street.
And unlike in the movies, eluding a mob while driving backwards at high speed is a pretty good trick. Bob Bondurant is 84; maybe when Dodge Boy gets out of jail he can turn pro.
