Klempner is so old he was at the Ford Theater watching the play when Lincoln bought it.

Klempner was the guy who asked, "Aside from that, how did you like the play, Mrs. Lincoln?"

When you think of all the fun he could have had rhyming "uncouth," "sleuth," "bucktooth," "Dr. Ruth," "vermouth" or "poof" instead, Klempner seems to be running out of steam. Although considering that the majority of the audience these days are newbies, he probably figured he should include at least one name on the list that somebody might recognize.
