When you talk about diploma mills the biggest and worst are the schools with big time football programs like the Big 10. Not surprisingly, you find the biggest socialist crackpots teaching at the very same schools. They can find "substandard" programs everywhere but in their own backyard.

True.

I recently read a story about a kid who attended a Big 10 School (hint: the same one Gollin teaches at) and he graduated but could not read. This guy was illiterate. He later got in a fight with his dad and shot him. He could not find his own dad's headstone in the Cemetary.

There was another guy who sued the college he graduated from because he did not learn anything.

I would add that both were student athletes.

Quote:Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, 11 Injured at Ohio Fraternity House
Published February 06, 2011 | Associated Press

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Two men involved in a dispute at a fraternity house party left the house and then returned, firing shots into the crowd early Sunday and killing a Youngstown State University student and injuring 11 other people, a police chief said.

Youngstown police Chief Jimmy Hughes said the house just north of the Ohio campus had been bustling with 50 or more people, some as young as 17. Six of the injured were students, authorities said.

"These guys were in the location for a little while before the shooting occurred," he said. "Something happened that they became unhappy. They had some type of altercation."

Investigators are trying to identify the shooters based on accounts from eyewitnesses, and the people who were shot have told police they had no problems with the suspected shooters, Hughes said.

"These guys were in the location for a little while before the shooting occurred," he said. "Something happened that they became unhappy. They had some type of altercation."

Members of the university-sanctioned Omega Psi Phi fraternity lived at the house, YSU spokesman Ron Cole said.

Omega Psi Phi doesn't own the house, said Christopher Cooper, a legal officer for the fraternity.

The Mahoning County coroner's office identified the dead student as 25-year-old Jamail E. Johnson. He was shot once in the head and multiple times on his hips and legs, and an autopsy is planned Monday, said Dr. Joseph Ohr, a forensic pathologist with the coroner's office.

The 11 injured were taken to nearby St. Elizabeth Health Center, and eight of them had been treated and released by early afternoon, hospital spokeswoman Tina Creighton said. She said she could not release the conditions of the other three.

"This is one of those days that every university president across the country, as well as many other officials, always dread," university president Cynthia Anderson said at a news conference on campus. She had visited the wounded and their families at the hospital earlier in the day.

Anderson said she had been assured by police that there was no threat to the northeast Ohio campus.

The shooting happened at a two-story brick house in a neighborhood of once-elegant homes, many of which are now boarded up. No one answered a knock at the door Sunday afternoon.

A neighbor, Rodger Brown, 54, said the house and an adjacent home with Greek lettering indicating a fraternity often have parties on Friday and Saturday nights but had caused no problems in the neighborhood.

"It's a nice, quiet neighborhood," he said. Brown said men living in the house were friendly to him and once offered him a beer and a ride as he walked home last fall.

Knifed to death: University basketball star Clantina Stewart

A girl of 18 has been accused of stabbing to death a star university basketball player after a row.

Shanterrica Madden was charged with the first degree murder of Clantina Stewart, 21, who was found with multiple knife wounds in the apartment they shared in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

As friends at Middle Tennessee State University mourned her death, Madden appeared in court. She was held without bail.

In a statement posted on the school's website, President Sidney McPhee said: ''The anguish I feel as a father and a president ... but personally as a father with a daughter about the age of Tina cannot adequately be expressed.'

'Our hearts are heavy with grief and our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.'

He described Stewart as a 'wonderfully talented and vibrant young woman.

Grief counsellors have been put on standby to help students and a candle-lit vigil was held. A university memorial page has been set up in her honour.

Stewart's parents, Ida and Adrian, travelled from their home in Memphis to the campus after Stewart was found stabbed at 7pm on Wednesday by police called to a disturbance.

Emergency medical teams rushed her to Middle Tennessee Medical Center where she died from her injuries.

Her aunt Diane Williams told AOL News the family was going through a 'very hard time.'

Stewart was a junior guard with the Blue Raiders, averaging 5.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 28 games this season.

Accused: Shanterrica Madden is charged with first degree murder

University officials are meeting with the team today and will let the squad decide if they want to play in a tournament tomorrow.

Athletic Director Chris Massaro said Stewart's death was an incredible loss, describing her as a 'great kid and a fighter'.

...Madden's lawyer Joe Brandon has reportedly claimed she acted in self defence and stabbed her with Stewart's own knife.

Reminds me of that old Redd Foxx joke:

"...But that's a lie they all tell about black people. Say all black people carry knives. I'm gonna tell you the truth. It's a lie cause I've been carrying an ice pick for thirty-two years."

"Crowing with glee"???

As usual, Gollum doesn't get it.

On the other hand, the author of this article on one of the latest RA campus murders does get it.

Quote:How sad is it to drop your child off to school for an education and to get her back in a body bag? Is it too much to ask for a safe environment for students on college campuses? We cannot understand how an argument can escalate to a physical fight, which then escalates to a murder. Stabbing your roommate to death. Really? Colleges need to screen students better. Many colleges do not screen more carefully due to fear of being accused of discrimination. Others whose survival is dependent on enrollment don't care who they let into the college or university as long as the numbers are met. Here is a clear example of why they should care.
Bowie State Student Killed in Dorm

(Didn't say the author (Nsenga Burton) was eloquent, just that she gets it. Maybe Gollum can round up 15 of his friends from the 'hood to 'splain it to him.)

This time it was Dominique in the dorm by the roommate. RA = no way for her.

Quote:...Dominique T. Frazier, 18, a student at [regionally accredited] Bowie State University was fatally stabbed Thursday night by her roommate during a fight inside a residential housing building on campus, Maryland State Police said early Friday. ...Prince Georges County police received a 911 call reporting a cutting at the Christa McAuliffe Residential Community building and responded along with campus police officers, state police said. University officers were the first to arrive and found the victim unconscious in a second floor hallway of the apartment-style dorm.

The officers rendered emergency care until rescuers arrived and took the student to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead about 45 minutes later. Frazier’s body will be taken to state medical examiner’s office in Baltimore for an autopsy, officials said.

Police say the 19-year-old roommate initially fled, but turned herself in four hours later. She is being held in custody but has not been charged. Classes have been canceled and grief counseling has been made available for students.
