DETC Degree $100/Month! - Winston Smith - 08-14-2010 No affiliation, just passing it on. DETC-accredited California InterContinental University has an amazing deal going right now. Their regularly cheap DL degree programs (BBA $18,345.00, MBA $10,470.00, DBA $15,345.00) are now even more affordable. You pay: $100/month until finished! "The financing is interest free (0% interest)....Total amount financed includes the total tuition, registration fee, CCA exam 1 & 2 fees, and graduation fee. ... The last payment will vary depending on the balance due. There is no prepayment penalty." This is the former California University of Technology (not to be confused with Cal Tech) that goes by the names "CalU" or "CalUniversity" (not to be confused with Cal or the University of California in Berkeley). The hokey name and the non-RA accreditation notwithstanding, this is still a terrific bargain. If money is standing between you and, say, an MBA or a doctorate from right here in the USA, this is your ticket. (This deal is not mentioned on their website, so don't worry if you can't find it there. And no telling how long it will last.) If you are interested go online to pay the application fee, then return the form below. RE: DETC Degree $100/Month! - ham - 08-14-2010 I read that even DETC hmu.edu offers an interest-free plan, but I'm not sure how it works out. You are right Ham, Harrison Middleton has a payment plan that is "interest free" although not exactly fee free. http://hmu.edu/pages/learnMore/financialAid.asp For a 4-unit grad course ($1200) they charge $650 up front ($200.00 + $150.00 (one time fee) + $300.00) and let you make two $300/month payments. So if my math is any good that's $1250 total, which means you are paying something for the privilege of time even if they don't call it interest. A little better is AMU, which has a payment plan where you can divide the $900 cost of grad courses into four payments of $225. That one doesn't ding you anything extra. http://www.amu.apus.edu/tuition-and-financing/self-payment-options/payment-plan.htm Both are good programs, but tough to beat $100/month. DETC is definitely the way to go if money is an issue. As more and more people start doing these programs, the irrational bias against DETC becomes less and less. And as the economy continues down the toilet it doesn't take too much college level thinking to question the wisdom of getting on the hook for huge RA tuition debt with little or no likelihood of a paying job at the end of the tunnel. Considering that some foreigner with an H-1B visa already has your tech job anyway, going the cut rate route makes sense. I suppose some of that are one-time fees that need not to be paid on each course, but they could have put it better. Quote:Interest Free Tuition Undergraduate Payment Plan and General Fees |
