Degreeboard Gone? - Ben Johnson - 09-02-2009 Say it ain't so, Joe. New version. http://chat.degree.com/ Way bigger site that degreediscussion. I guess it's too bad Robert has a job and a dick. Not much of that going around at DD. RE: Degreeboard Gone? - ham - 09-02-2009 Quote:Degreeboard has been losing traffic and activity and almost had to close. Instead we have merged with www.degree.com who will help drive traffic to our site and keep us alive. Many thanks to degree.com for your support! Well, it's not the first formerly prominent site that over time loses activity and thus traffic. I wonder how the degreeinfo/degreediscussion clowns manage to go. There was a "new management" notice on the DB front page some time ago. I think I first spotted it back in February, but it might have been up earlier. Obviously without Robert J's steady hand on the wheel things weren't as interesting. I thought the interviews and the "mill or not a mill" threads were innovative and a lot of fun. The clones never really took to that site, mainly because they need someone to hold their little hands and protect them from their own stupidity. That they feel safer with an empty chair like Goose at the throttle tells you a lot. But with the demise of DD on the horizon, perhaps the leftovers will land at degree.com and we can have at them directly again. Wow, those guys at DD really are sharp, aren't they? Sheila has something to do with degree.com? Really? I wonder what tipped them off? Could it have been the 41 mentions of her name on the web site? That's just top flight research, that's all there is to it. And it didn't even take the usual 16 guys to discover that stunning news. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now let's see if Gollin can figure out who the UofI Conflict of Interest Officer is and what she is doing to prevent nepotism. RE: Degreeboard Gone? - ham - 09-03-2009 Quote:Now let's see if Gollin can figure out who the UofI Conflict of Interest Officer is and what she is doing to prevent nepotism. Oh please... Remember Ward Churchill? One thing is to delight big brother & its high priests with 'scandalous' ideas while sipping champagne & eating oysters... even big brother's henchmen need their iota of adrenaline, and living room revolutionaries provide it by finger pointing the atrocity of the day: native american doom; racism; the plight of the have nots...boy, does big brother love these nimrods making $100.000 a year and up when they protest against discrimination, preferential treatments and so forth... Another thing is to actually walk on big brother's big feet (and they ARE very big )...who knows...some righteous officer might have a second or a third look at that "mutant pigs sold for food" or "dirty papists" thing and find it in violation of one or several laws with stiff penalties...or at least some ethical norm worth the termination of the employment; some other equally righteous officer might just realize many years after the fact that a doctoral dissertation is supposed to be individual, not the collective work of an entire football team...don't you think there are at least a couple paragraphs in the gigabytes of codes of conduct, rules, rulings and so forth that consider it an academic offense? Apparently George Brown isn't very impressed with the value Robert J. added to the ongoing DL discussion by operating degreeboard.com. DD link about degreeboard.com I disagree, of course, and believe that degreeboard.com facilitated some very lively discussions (unlike the ill-named DegreeDiscussion.com) and had a very wide range of views represented. RE: Degreeboard Gone? - Herbert Spencer - 09-07-2009 Little Arminius Wrote:Apparently George Brown isn't very impressed with the value Robert J. added to the ongoing DL discussion by operating degreeboard.com. That is classic George Brown. A stupid opinion totally based on speculation, conjecture, supposition and not one iota of fact. I see why he is so cozy with civil rights violators and anti-Christian bigots. Why let facts get in the way when it comes to your own self-importance? Fact is that Robert J hasn't been associated with DB in some time, and the new owners moved it on to Sheila. If George Brown really wants to find somebody selling out to the dark side he just needs to look in the mirror. Oh George, when are you going to tell us about the International College of Hotel Management? Confession is good for the soul, you know (if you still have one). As Denver Mullican put it, that dodgy school "is in the past"...we are supposed to look the other way and to change subject to the weather if it is mentioned...remember, truth and time are gentlemen. I have been wondering why no one questions George Brown about this operation. It seems like something he took out of the John Bear playbook: publicly rail against mills while simultaneously running your own questionable school and raking in piles of cash. I wonder if his spouse also ran a degree consulting service on the side which recommended ICHN? Also, who is Denver Mullican? Is he the socialist that works for a public university in West Virginia while badmouthing the taxpayers of that state or was that Little Fauss?
