DOD: APUS has "HUGE" Dropout Rate - Yancy Derringer - 02-25-2012 Quote:The newly released DOD data shows that six of the top ten recipients of Tuition Assistance are for-profit schools: American Public Education, Inc., Bridgepoint Education, Inc., TUI Learning, LLC, Apollo Group, Inc., Columbia Southern University, and Grantham University. Those six companies, alone, collect 41 percent of all TA dollars. . . . http://www.insidehighered.com/sites/default/server_files/files/022312_DOD%20TA%20Data%20Background%20Document.pdf ![]()
RE: DOD: APUS has "HUGE" Dropout Rate - ham - 02-25-2012 Did you ever believe that military university gimmick? I didn't. That's a marketing angle to fool suckers. Much as we want to berate socialist inteferences, these for-profits are just the worst welfare hogs. They want to pose as John Wayne riding the horse of free market in town, but are just leeches on the nanny state's back. RE: DOD: APUS has "HUGE" Dropout Rate - jamesc1 - 03-03-2012 When I hear "FREE MARKET" mentioned by private schools while they are busy sucking at the tit of public funds I get very concerned. UOP is one of the most over hyped of the private schools and it is very high. These creations are what Bear and company would have us believe are at the front of DL education. They obviously make a lot of money but that is of interest to the owners, not something of great interest to students. Are tax payers getting what they pay for? Are students best served by these private schools milking the system? I think not. And they tell us the unaccredited schools were so horrible. At least the schools felt obligated to work with the students to provide part of what "THEY" were looking for. UOP is nothing more than a high priced milking machine. Let UOP operate in the free market minus public funding and lets see if they can survive. At the time they had what looked like an interesting offer and they were...good enough for that purpose, though somewhat on the expensive side of the DE/DL spectrum. Their kind of supercilious attitude and sky-high requirements dissuaded me and am i glad i did give up. RE: DOD: APUS has "HUGE" Dropout Rate - cxtinah - 08-24-2013 The American Public University System (American Military University and American Public University). Yes you are correct. Change occur 2years ago. They are no longer National Accredited, Instead Regional Accreditation. Which is better. Most States schools Have regional Accreditation. Ohio State University has the Accreditation has The American Public University System. It took me month for me to gain Admission to this school. American Public University System: This links might help::: http://www.apus.edu/accreditation/ Ohio State University: http://www.osu.edu/osutoday/stuinfo.php#accred What is the different in National or Regional Accreditation: http://www.onlinecollegereport.com/regional-accreditation-and-national-accreditation/ http://www.degree.net/accreditation/regional-accreditation-versus-national-accreditation_199911302321.html/ http://www.elearners.com/online-education-resources/degrees-and-programs/regional-accreditation-vs-national-accreditation/ Quote:Resigned DETC Accreditationhttp://www.detc.org/actions/051012_AC_meeting_report.pdf [/quote] |
