I am sure Donald Hecht is still owner and the SCUPS connection is there. If things are better?, for that you will need to enroll and find for yourself. Those are my observations. Just curious were you fire or displace? I am sure no one is going to invest that much time and money to run out of business, but I have been wrong before. About the complains, people everywhere complains for anything even people with no connection to the University complains and even me. Anyway, 3 years it is short time indeed but is not probation and before the HLC pulls the plug ample warnings and chances to fix the problem(s) will be given and there is a due process that will follow.
Note here: I am not promoting the University. It just worked for me.

They don't accept unaccredited degrees or credits, I have credits from Scups and I have two unaccredited (MBA/DBA) degrees from a California State Approved University, I asked the first time I was seeking enrollment just for curiosity (I knew what would be the answer) They say NO!. I was admitted base from my RA Master's.
Second time around, but this time I have already credits from a National Accredited University, Those credits did not transfer even if they said they have an agreements with this NA school.
Example, I took a marketing class from University of Phoenix about 20 years ago, and took the same class at the NA level recently, guess which credits transfer? Yes the one from the UOP? In my case they took only RA credits.

I've never had a problem with NCU. I do now. If they're not accepting Nationally Accredited courses while many other Regionally Accredited schools do, they are useless to many potential students.
If they think that quality comes from not accepting courses evaluated by other accreditors they are mistaken. Perhaps greed has led them to require more courses.

I was able to transfer 6 credits from Argosy at the doctoral level, they could have said no, but they granted that transfer, so I have to given them that, it left me only with 45 units to finish. It will be interesting to know if someone were successful in doing so, there was one person that indicated he did enrolled at the doctoral program, then change his mind a went to pursue a master's in another area, but unfortunately this person is not credible, has a history of contradicting himself. However, there is another person name David E. Lady that seems that he did:

The Achillles' Heel of many of these RA schools attempting to do DL programs is that they are trying to re-create a traditional B & M environment, rather than using the new technology to move beyond that.
So you get e.g., required cohort meetings so you can rub elbows with a bunch of people you wouldn't want to get near otherwise, profs ignoring student emails just like they dodge questions in the classroom, etc. Instead of getting a next generation education you get a poor facsimile of an obsolete one.

The DBA at the time of this posting, the oral defense is required as per ACBSP standards. You can progress as fast as you want or as slow as you can, the progress will be determine by work, family, and knowledge of the subject.
For example, accounting comes natural to me, so I can progress very fast in the courses with minimal to no supervision from the mentor, but some other classes took me 12 weeks to finish. I am gifted in accounting and finance and I am able to handle multiple classes at the same time with no problem.

Bad luck for Reverend Rick in his court case. As might be expected, the defendant NCU prof apparently lied through his ass, although the good Rev. is too genteel to phrase it quite that way (not us though!).
Although the scumbag prof's blatant, bald-faced lies weren't the basis of the court's decision, they do demonstrate the utter lack of integrity one finds from top to bottom at NCU.
Anyone thinking about enrolling at NCU ought to read Rev. Rick's account carefully. That could be you fending off your prof's bogus statements about welcome messages and lack of communication. If a guy will lie under oath in court he certainly will lie under any other circumstance.
We hope those who have beefs with NCU will contact Rev. Rick about the proposed class action lawsuit against NCU.
1st Court Case Results

It would seem there is no recourse for a student where the instructor behaves badly, issues an unsatisfactory grade, then is shielded by a University that wants to defend an image that they have active and engaged mentors.
I'm under the assumption that the judge would have cited any jurisdiction issues first if I could not establish personal jurisdiction for the lawsuit in Kansas. Citing the CompuServe v. Patterson case and providing copies of the original electronically-signed contract from 2002 seemed enough to prove jurisdiction.
Dr. Muller incorrectly stated during the trial that he had contacted me every 4 weeks. I was able to counter his claim by providing evidence via NCU's compass message system that he had no contact with me between 8/23/2007 and 11/2/2007. He also incorrectly claimed to have sent a welcome message at the start of the course indicating the rules of the road for his class. I was also able to show all emails sent by Dr. Muller and that his welcome message was never sent to me.
Dr. Muller also presented a newer version of the Learner's Guide as evidence even though it was not in effect during the class. I provided the version of the document taken from the NCU website as of 12/7/2007. The older Learner's Guide included statements that could hold them and their instructors accountable, statements that have since been changed to the benefit of the school instead of the student.
Total cost out of pocket: about $60, including court and postal fees.

What a lying snake this Muller guy is! Do you think he cooked up his fairy tales and fake docs all on his own, or with the help of the NCU administration???? And their lawyers too????

Not bad advice, but it doesn't do much to help out others who have made or are about to make the same mistake. Leaving up the blog would have been a service to anyone googling NCU info.

I had a terrible experience at NCU. they have a very non-interactive, non-committal method of communication & teaching. I lost $1600 and did not learn a thing. My mentor (professor) did not allow me to call him. He required that all my questions be sent to him in a Word document (versus email) and that they be sent to him using the very antiquated person to person messaging system that is available through the student portal. Mind you, this is NOT an email system. it is a message system. It takes one back 15 years in terms of messaging. Additionally, the reponses back from my prof were 1 word answers .. try better .. try the (limited/unhelpful) online library .. redo your phrasing here .. etc. other than a couple grammatical errors, I did not learn anything from my course and after trying to fight for a refund, simply just cancelled. I would really like to help anyone out that is thinking/planning to goto this course. I strongly recommend UC Irvine and other such univeristy's online courses. best,

I had the unfortunate experience of having a couple of professors at Northcentral University (NCU) who didn't even minimally meet their minimum responsibilities as instructors. In a nutshell, they barely participated at all. The class in question, RSH890A-B, is the first research class that leads up to the doctoral dissertation. This is a critical class that sets the foundation for the final dissertation. The student attrition rate at this point in any doctoral program is high because of the difficulty. Active mentorship is absolutely critical to the success of the NCU student at this point. I suggest that a lack of active mentorship would result in a higher than normal student attrition rate. When my instructor's conduct was brought to the attention of the Dean of the school via the appeals process, she chose not to acknowledge and correct the instructor issues. Dean Turner's decision was to academically dismiss me instead. I started the RSH890A-B classes as a student in good academic and financial standing. I had a respectable GPA of 3.58. I had also prepaid the complete program.
As you said Armando, student beware. If you don't want to have to face that you "got fucked," don't enroll at NCU.
