Its you and not I who is involved in character assassination and I'm yet to see any substantial prove from any of you.
All I read is nonsense and half truths, and quotes taken out of content.
There are more with me than with you. Well maybe not in this discussion board. I don't keep Dr. Bears quotations but as long as I remember I read the words IF UNACCREDITED DEGREE will serve your needs then he would suggest a better unaccredited school such as CCU when it was unaccredited and couple of others, Yes at one point he supported GU.

I've proved, on many occasions, that John Bear and Frank Abagnale are in the history books as two of the world's most successful con men. Of course, most people in the know have far more respect for Frank than for JB. Just like Robin Hood, Frank robbed the rich; whereas JB robbed everyone!

Unintentional mistakes in a extremely low percentage 1% can be found and as you mentioned since the guide was some what a yearly publication the mistakes were corrected.

I stated that wile there were a few options of good non traditional wonderful schools with even fewer offering degrees by DL.
With the years increasing number of DL providers shifted from correspondence and other media such as Cable TV in to Internet technology to the point were schools such as Knightbreach can b e run
from a computer in a house. This shift lead to huge problem of web based diploma mills(KU is not a mill in my view). The question is today when education tuition is very high is there a room for unaccredited but honest education providers?
I personally of the opinion that CCU degrees wile not accredited then in the 70's, 80's and 90's had value. Not all unaccredited providers are equal.
Just like not all accredited providers are equal.
QA in education can come in many forms and in my opinion state approved schools that have states permission to grant degrees have place in the whole range of education providers especially if state allows in some areas
access to professional licensing. If graduates of lets say SCUPS earn in CA
MFCC license to me its a quality mark, the same goes for many CA unaccredited law schools, their students get real education and some become licensed attorneys.
So for mid career adults who learned at their work places and other training situations there is a room to accelerate and certify possibly even by a degree their knowledge, preferably by accredited good name recognized provider. Simply the utility and legality won't be questioned.
Now back to the title of this tread.
Where is Brayer State Univ in all this? Do employers hire people with such degrees? Are there states where such degrees are illegal? Can they be used overseas and get positive evaluation by NARIC?
I think some can use such degree, If a person holds engineering degree from recognized university and later in his career earned MBA from Brayer
its not a crime in my view.

It appears that you are trying to rewrite the history.
Do you hold unaccredited degree and your school was criticised by Dr. Bear? Is it a payback time for you?
As mentioned many such persons are angry, they can't pass their degree as real earned degree and its obvious that the Bears guide is in their way.

Answer-Which guides, number and year please, page number.
====================================

I stated that wile there were a few options of good non traditional wonderful schools with even fewer offering degrees by DL.
=====================================
Answer- John Bear claims that 95% of his early and later guides covered accredited schools. I would like for you to list all these early accredited schools that were listed and accredited, making up the 95% he claims. He has also said there were few accredited options in the early years. One of his claims is a lie. Both cannot be true.

Answer- Which schools are you speaking of? Who are these increasing number of schools. Surely you aren't saying Cable TV and the early correspondence schools were contemporary with each other.
========================================

Answer: John Bear has said that CCU is very good and is very bad, depending on where he was speaking. Both cannot be true. One is a lie and the other the truth.

Just like not all accredited providers are equal.

Answer: Indeed the state schools have a place in the DL world and are not degree mills.

answer: As Douglas has shown 96% of employers see state licensed schools as positive. That is as good or better than Bear claimed in the early years. The paper was done in 2003.

answer: Agreed!! Breyer State has value, is not the best school around, but also not the worst. It has a level of value that may or may not be of acceptable value to the student depending on his needs.

As mentioned many such persons are angry, they can't pass their degree as real earned degree and its obvious that the Bears guide is in their way.

Of course he isn't. Bear told him he should have used Greenwich, Fairfax, or Kennedy Western University. As Bear said, "A real school."

But you just posted a very long post where you claimed CCU was real and other unaccredited schools were real. How do you now say that unaccredited schools are not. Bear's guides especially are our best friends. It's Bear who denies what he wrote in the guides. Just as you do when we quote his guides, he denies what they said. But you are ignorant and he is lying, or perhaps you also are part of that lie.

"I was the full-time president of Greenwich (and its predecessor, the International Institute) and of course I wouldn't have done it if  I didn't think it was a good school and program."
--John Bear--College Degrees by Mail 1995-page 90

Since the Bear guides heavily recommended the unaccredited schools, how could they be in our way. They tell in print what Bear denies at the discussion forums. They prove him a liar and fake.

"Many job descriptions specify that a certain degree is required, or that additional salary will be paid, if a certain degree is held. In MANY of these situations, a good unaccredited degree will suffice."
--John Bear--Bears' Guide 12th Edition

He is our best friend in proving what you and he are saying is wrong. We can show by link and quote that what we say is real. All you and Bear have is hot air and an attempt to change history, his.

Not so, you are master at twisting the truth.
He recommended Accredited schools first. Then if you decided that unaccredited degree may serve your needs only then he recommended a better unaccredited school.
And if the school had a change in ownership and went a stray got worse he stopped recommending it.

This is the truth and you know it.

Hi Student.
Afraid you have much to learn about John Bear. Once upon a time JB was a highly respected individual who produced lots of 'guides' promoting alternative means of obtaining a degree. He made a lot of money out of this, just as he did from establishing, and working for, a large number of independent universities. He was also the founder of two very successful 'mills', with the London Institute of Applied Research making him hundreds of thousands of dollars in a very short space of time. L.I.A.R. is still functioning and JB is still collecting money from it.
Whilst very few people have suffered from the writings of JB there is no doubt at all that thousands were very successfully conned by him.
But when the acid was put on him he began to sing a different song altogether. Except his song is seriously flawed and he and many of his mates have committed very serious offences against a large number of individuals; by reporting/outing people with unaccredited degrees to their employers, as well as to a wide number of other educational facilities. IMO many of the actions of the small number of "RA or NO WAY" brigade are nothing short of being evil.
You also need to be aware of the reasons why JB and his mates are "RA or NO WAY" - it is because they are being well paid for singing this song.

RE: Breyer State - Student - 11-26-2007

I don't see this the way you described it.
I know that education is an industry and it is competitive.
Businesses pay for marketing, advertisement and referrals.
History shows that RA or even better RA + PA from decent school has the most value specially if licensing or board certification is the goal.
So I'm of the opinion that if their agenda is to promote something that is good and I would recommend to my children then I have no issue with that.
This works bout ways, I think people get ripped off by schools that later turn to be not that good and the credential marginal with limitations. At the same time public is better protected from the sub standard schools.
Here is where I deffer with some of them, I think that the range of schools can exist, all the way from Yale and Harvard, Cambridge to state licensed schools as long as real education is provided or real assessment or examinations for work and other learning experiences take place.
Now I can see at time turf wars and one group trying to run out competition but the consumer can and is dictating. This is why so many real B&M schools offer DL capitalizing on Internet and other technologies, this is market driven.
In many countries there is more or less uniform system and the student has less to worry when it comes to education providers, in US its very diverse. Many countries have national Standard for diplomas and this way if a person has this kind of credential it is legally accepted for all types of jobs etc. This makes the need for researching a school much lower than in USA where you must research every school, their types of accreditation, State laws about the Licensing if the school degree be accepted for the exams etc.
Mobility between the states, tier, are they going to be around next year, graduate school acceptance etc.
I know persons who earned degrees with ITT and later go disappointed with their limitation to continue in RA school for further higher degree.
When a person earned State Format diploma in France or Russia every one knows that minimum state requirements are followed and the person studied the appropriate curriculum with appropriate level of teachers etc. All Grad schools for higher degree accept such degrees.
But some bureaucrats at times their goal is to create a problem so they can come in with legislation and solve it.
Experiential schools have little or no freedom and the legislation makes their degrees illegal.
