North American Theological Society - larryjf - 11-16-2007 This is a completely free seminary that has some good endorsements... http://www.theologyamerica.org/ RE: North American Theological Society - Randall Flagg - 11-17-2007 I had a look through it and thought it very interesting, especially the price. It might not be for everyone but if it fits, go for it. RE: North American Theological Society - Ben Johnson - 11-17-2007 I glanced at some courses. They look quite good. Maybe I have to give it a try. Did you say free? RE: North American Theological Society - larryjf - 11-17-2007 Ben Johnson Wrote:I glanced at some courses. They look quite good. Larry I notice how the self-appointed keepers of the faith at degreediscussion dump all over the school. I also notice how those Nabobs of the Nativity, Dukes of Deuteronomy, and Guardians of the Gospels think that no decent human should post here. There are those who believe that Christianity isn't about an academic elite looking down their noses at the unwashed and illiterate parishioners. There is nothing in the Bible that requires a doctorate to comprehend. You can tear it apart and reassemble it in only so many ways always tiptoing to remain in bounds, away from heresy. I know a sometimes minister of a mainline Baptist Church with no appreciable education. Does he have an accredited education? No - more like no education. He has one thing going for him - he works for free with a small congregation that cannot afford a full time minister. Is there anything to criticize in this situation? To me it is akin to NATS. In my mind working for free, doing good work, should never be criticized. I used to know some Hutterites. They would decide that Darius would run the hog barn, Jakob the dairy barn, and Michael would be the preacher. A job is a job and 8 years of school was enough. Something wrong here? Education is never bad. Spreading God's word is never bad. Doing it for free is never bad. What's the deal? I am wondering though if there are any similar, but non-religious free online text books like this? Anyone know where I could find some, say in business courses? RE: North American Theological Society - larryjf - 11-18-2007 Ben Johnson Wrote:Education is never bad. Spreading God's word is never bad. Doing it for free is never bad. What's the deal? I agree. Apparently learning from Christ Himself would not be adequate education according to those folks since Christ didn't have an accredited degree. And i got all of that heat simply because i told someone who was thinking of going to Tripp Bible Institute that NATS was another, free, possibility. RE: North American Theological Society - Randall Flagg - 11-18-2007 No free school is going to be Harvard, but who would think it is? It is another choice that may be appropriate for some and completelt wrong for others, but here is the main point. Let people make the choice and then do with the education, however they earn it, as best as they are able. It seems some people are afraid of the competition from the self-educated and from such as NATS. If they have a vastly superior education and much more knowledge, why would they so fear the self trained or those having used the lesser recognized schools? It would seem to me these people who fear NATS so much may have good reason to fear the competition. Maybe they are unable to deal with people who are skilled and educated, though by different means. RE: North American Theological Society - Randall Flagg - 11-18-2007 I read the bible almost every day, and I have not seen one thing in MY bible that says one single word about ACCREDITED. It is the intent of the learner as to any study of the bible being good or bad. God can decide if my motives are good or bad. He is accreditor enough for me. Let the education police rant all they want, God will decide, he always does. A- But He is taught directly from the Father and IS truth.(Jo chaps 5,14) Oh ya, duh.forgot. [unquote] Did anyone question truth? What has accreditation or the lack thereof has to do with truth?
