Hard to tell what to make of this article on the Dutch website MijnPersbericht.com.  Appears to be a rehash of allegations from the Dolphin lawsuit, but with a few extras, perhaps gaining something in the translation (or perhaps not).  

As far as we know, there are not (yet) any criminal charges pending against Gollin for his role in the Liberian shakedown operation described in the Dolphin lawsuit, nor is Gollin currently out on bail.  Likewise, he has not (yet) been formally suspended by his employer for his activities, although he is or was on a paid "sabbatical" leave.  

But perhaps the Dutch sources have better information than we do.  Clearly Gollin is garnering the same endearment overseas as he has earned domestically.  First in the original Dutch language version, then the Google translated version.

Hij beloofde de school dat hun aantal inschrijvingen aanzienlijk zou stijgen na aankoop, en dat men het bedrag snel zou terugverdienen.

Hetzelfde scenario herhaalde zich ten opzichte van een tiental andere instellingen. Toen steeds meer scholen wantrouwig werden en weigerden de omkoopsom te betalen, zette Gollin hen onder zware druk door een reeks brieven naar plaatselijke kranten te zenden op briefhoofding van CHEA waarin hij beweerde dat de betrokken scholen waardeloze en illegale diploma’s zouden afleveren aangezien ze niet door hemzelf werden erkend.

Een aantal kranten drukte de brieven van CHEA af, inclusief  namen van onderwijzers en directieleden die de omkoopsom hadden geweigerd te betalen. Door de geleden morele schade en het verlies aan inkomsten als gevolg van de negatieve publiciteit vordert de openbare aanklager een recordbedrag van $120.000 vanwege George Gollin ten behoeve van de geviseerde slachtoffers.

Gollin zelf mag zijn proces in vrijheid afwachten na betaling van een borgsom bij de rechtbank van Los Angeles. De Universiteit van Illinois heeft de sjoemelende professor voor 1 jaar geschorst, iets wat Gollin zelf in zijn weblog tegenspreekt en uitlegt als een ”onbezoldigd sabbatjaar” waarin hij een boek schrijft. CHEA heeft vooralsnog geweigerd om commentaar te geven over de toekomst van professor Gollin, waardoor in de Verenigde Staten de perceptie is ontstaan dat wel meer scholen en universiteiten hun erkenning van deze organisatie louter tegen betaling hebben aangekocht.

Ook de echtgenote van George Gollin, Melanie Loots, werd intussen door een Amerikaanse consumentenorganisatie aangeklaagd wegens het verkopen van overleden proefdieren aan vleesverwerkende bedrijven. De echtgenote is eveneens werkzaam als woordvoerster voor CHEA.

As more and more schools suspicious and refused the bribe to be paid, put Gollin them under heavy pressure through a series of letters to local newspapers to broadcast on letterhead of Chea, who argued that the schools worthless and illegal diplomas would deliver as they are not by themselves were recognized.

A number of newspapers printed the letters off Chea, including names of teachers and directors who refused to pay the bribe. By the non-pecuniary damage and loss of revenue resulting from the negative publicity the Prosecutor seeks a record amount of $ 120,000 for George Gollin for the targeted victims.

Gollin itself must await trial in freedom after paying a deposit in the court of Los Angeles. The University of Illinois Professor of the cheating one year suspended, Gollin something self-contradictory and explains his blog as an "unpaid sabbatical year" in which he writes a book. Chea has so far refused to comment on the future of Professor Gollin, which in the United States, the perception has arisen that have more schools and universities recognize this organization only charges have purchased.

The wife of George Gollin, Melanie Loots, an American consumer has meanwhile been charged with selling of deceased animals to meat processors. The wife is also active as a spokeswoman for Chea.

The Article was a little difficult to understand. It actually state that Gollin is facing criminal charges?

Maybe in the Netherlands what he did could net you some prison time and they simply cannot understand how a miscreant like Gollin could not be charged with some kind of crime.

So since the story used that term, it looks to me like it says that Gollin is being accused of these bad acts by the prosecutor, which of course would mean criminal charges.

Aside from the hash bars and brothels, the Netherlands is otherwise a fairly civilized country.  I can see where the Dutch would expect a butt-scratching, nose-picking, armpit sniffing scumbag like Gollin to be the focus of prosecution, rather than a government informant railroading people into jail on trumped up charges.

Will a physics professor’s “hobby” cost Illinois taxpayers $120 million? University of Illinois physics professor George Gollin (George D. Gollin, George Dana Gollin) is being sued in a Los Angeles federal court for his part in a Liberian shakedown scheme.

St. Luke School of Medicine was a small, accredited medical school that helped to provide doctors and medical care to the poor and sick in war-ravaged Liberia. But when they refused to pay a $6,000 a month bribe, George Gollin began a campaign to falsely portray the school as an illegal “diploma mill” to force them to pay the bribe, according to the complaint.

George Gollin’s current employer, the University of Illinois, is also named as a defendant in the complaint. In 2003 university spokesperson Robin Kaler stated that the university did not support George Gollin’s hobby of stalking and attacking small Christian schools because it was outside the area of his supposed expertise.

But in the face of these admonishments George Gollin continued with his hobby, and that judgment was affirmed on appeal.

George Gollin and his wife Melanie Loots, who also is employed at the University of Illinois, have been involved in number of scandalous incidents recently.

George Gollin claims to hold a doctoral degree from Princeton University in New Jersey, whose university policy expressly prohibits collaborative dissertations. Gollin admits the document he submitted was a collaboration, in violation of university rules. The dissertation bears a striking resemblance to a research paper purportedly authored by Gollin and 15 other students, and the synopses for both documents are virtually verbatim.

George Gollin used violent imagery and is alleged to have violated federal law by falsely posing as a government official, and has been caught allegedly posting other people’s social security numbers on his university web site.

Using the code name “galanga,” George Gollin made 1,280 posts on Degreeinfo.com, an internet website registered to Chip White, a pornographer.

Gollin’s wife, Melanie Loots, served as “Conflict of Interest Officer” for the University of Illnois during the conflict of interest scandal that rocked the university and resulted in the sacking of top administrative officials, including President B. Joseph White and Chancellor Richard Herman.

Loots also was cited by the federal Food & Drug Administration for selling 386 mutant lab pigs to the public for food. In another incident, religious groups demanded Loots’ resignation when it was discovered she had made bigoted, anti-Catholic slurs and belittled Catholic religious rituals.

Despite these incidents the pair remains employed by the university at taxpayer expense, with George Gollin receiving a $100,000 salary, and his wife receiving $160,000.

Plaintiff St. Luke previously obtained a $120 million judgment against some of these same defendants, but so far corrupt Liberian officials have prevented them from collecting. Illinois taxpayers could potentially be on the hook for that amount or more, thanks to George Gollin.
