Bear is the master at avoiding landmines precisely because he's the one who often planted them in the first place. Let's remember, this is a guy who was involved with numerous "unaccredited schools" and even a few schools he admitted were mills (but he was just joking, of course), most of which he gave good reviews in his books. That seems reasonable given his involvement with them. However, in the very next edition he would write that the school went downhill after his departure and he could no longer recommend it. Two editions later the school would be listed in the section on mills. Bear must have laughed all the way to the bank.

Unfortunately, ham, you are right, that is exactly how the legal system works (or doesn't work, as the case may be). Judges are politicians, elected or appointed by other politicians. Judges don't get to be a judges because they are naive about the political system. They don't stay a judge or move up the ladder as a judge by pissing off important (politically connected) people. They take care of the pals who took care of them. If the facts don't support their findings, they just make them up. If the law doesn't support their rulings, they just make that up too. And since the same thing applies to appellate judges, even if you can afford an appeal you are going to get the same treatment, or worse, from them.

Never confuse the legal system for a baseball game. Baseball umpires have integrity because they love and respect the game. Judges are whores who love and respect power. The best team usually does not win in court unless the best team also has the best political connections.

We do better work here on this website than all the lawyers in the world, because we expose these cartel shills and perverts for what they are. Thanks to the internet and search engines now anybody on the planet so inclined can see what sort of scumbags they are dealing with in a matter of seconds.

The more people learn about this rat bastard gollum and his ilk the less inclined they will be to swallow his lies and bullshit. At some point even politicians will have had enough of him. (1) IF you'd read my posting, you'd have read that ALL the schools on "my list" were accredited by ASIC, except Zaskin College, which was accredited by this Government-approved accreditor: British Accreditation Council for Independent Further & Higher Education. Zaskin is on the "approved sponsor" list with the other schools - last page. I don't care how "useful" you consider my list. If not to the Brits, it's useful in its present form to me and other forum-readers. On the other hand, YOUR list - in its present form - might be useful as a basis for litigation by legit, authorized schools.

(2) UIUC or CHEA are free to disagree - but I think it IS your job to research a list you've been handed, before using it to cast wild unfounded aspersions against legit schools. As for its use as a John-Bear type "what's this" contest, (his was a GOOD one - yours isn't) it WAS your job to read and "vet" it first. You don't need a formal job description, or a Ph.D. for that!

(2) I'm quite happy (so far) with my (incomplete) education - as far as it's progressed. (2 colleges 1 University). My first tertiary graduation was at 46, my most recent at 62. It's definitely not my last!

(3) I'm very glad I can't drink any more. My health is surprisingly good and I'll hopefully enjoy years yet with my sons, their families and my beautiful tribe of grandchildren - all of whom I love deeply. Nothing like family - trumps everything!

(4) Re-do the list? No - I refuse. Just because I can -- And you can't make me - - - - I'm not one of your physics students!

A British professor I met at the CHEA Annual Meeting in Washington DC a few weeks ago described the list as the British government's official, but for-internal-use-only list of diploma mills. He described it as a list of mills, told me that he (the British prof) was too old to care what anyone in the UK government might do to him for releasing the list, and said that the government did not make the list public because the legal challenges by the operators of diploma mills might require the government to put more resources into legal wrangling than they wanted to do at that point in time.

For the moment, let's assume that the professor who gave me the list described it accurately, except that "diploma mills" was colloquial and should have been more precisely phrased as "course providers the UK government judges to be of unacceptably low quality." In answer to your questions:

It's just amazing to read Gollin's confession. He described his mystery list as a "government diploma mill"? list. But now Gollum has admitted that the document's source was just some prof he met once at a meeting and not the government at all. Some mysterious, unnamed prof, who no doubt has absolutely no connection whatsoever to the British government, or any other government. But he was at the meeting and he talked with a British accent, so that was good enough for George.

Not so much as an email to somebody (anybody) to verify, either the info itself or the source? Even socialist rags like the New York Slimes and the Washington ComPost verify their info before they publish. Wouldn't you expect at least an attempt to do so by the physics genius CHEA director and government informant? Nope, too much trouble. Much easier just to lie. Defame a few legal, accredited schools by calling them "diploma mills,"? then backpedal afterwards. If you get caught just blame it on the Brits or mystery sources or diploma mills or George Bush.
