I don't understand why a 2,000 hour residency would be holding up things at CCU.  Wouldn't many prospective students already have such experience that could be signed off?

The other alternative might be a DA or DSc in psychology.

I guess they will pursue whatever needs to be done, afterall they (CCU) will be much better off in the longrun ($) once any doctorate programs are developed and then approved by the DETC.
The notion that California Pacific University is a school that offers degrees that border on the "novelty"...is utterly absurd...a total load of rubbish! This "state approved university", offers recognized degrees, that are rigorous, and challenging to complete. In fact, upon completion of the MA in Healthcare Admin, as well as the MA in Management and Human behavior, the degree holder is eligible to stand for licensure as a Ca. Nursing Home Administrator. One more thing, I have worked with state personnel who have graduated from this school and other ones, PWU comes to mind. These individuals were not only hired based upon the completion of these degree programs, they were given promotions into managerial positions and given handsome raises as well. Nobody outside of a few detractors, believes CPU ever was, or is a degree mill, or a "shop" to pick up a novelty diploma... uh-uh, not even close. One more thing, the university requires it's students to complete proctored exams, upon completion of each course, which augments the term papers and assignments outlined in the course syllabus.
So is CPU accredited or not? I remember that once it was not. I did check out thier Engineering Program befoer. It looked interesting but it was not specific enough. I needed an Electrical or Electronics Engineering degreee. But I came very close to enrolling.
An unaccrdited degree, today, would not be best for most people, but, if it is what a person wants I certainly would't be a nay sayer. As long as you do the work, it's legal, and it suits what you need or want, good enough.

DETC doctorates, and other degrees, are indeed accredited and any new ones would be of good quality but they may not give the most bang for the buck. Of course the mail order RA doctorates, and others, fit pretty much in the same shoe box. If accredited is all that matters, ok. If you need name recognition or some level of past history none of these distance degrees may be enough. I suppose you use the best school you can pay for and at a level of work that you are willing to do. It was always that way, wasn't it. Smile

I think many times we get too caught up in what WE like best and what WE want. It's not my ass on the line if someone wants it fast, cheap, easy. I made my choices for my own reasons and I live with them, for good or evil. How can I deny others the same choices. I certainly have no right to raise hell with them for doing it their way and not mine. But I would suggest, suggest only, that a person keep it legal and use some common sense as to quality and usability.
The degree programs at CPU are recognized by the "board of governors" and conferred by " California Law"...this law makes the degree legal, valid and beyond. The caliber of education is excellent, with oversight coming from the BPPE, under the "Ca. Dept. of Consumer Affairs". It's interesting how many schools, with a physical presence in California, but receiving RA from something other then WASC, clamor for state approval, but don't receive it anymore. They want the protection and oversight, but Phoenix and others are no longer granted this umbrella!, when they are sued by disgruntled students they can't run to the BPPE anymore, as in days past, to serve as mediator and more....DETC schools receive BPPE oversight, such as California Miramar University and other outstanding schools...enjoy
CPU degrees are also recognized by the "CA. Dept. of Education and endorsed by the Superintendent of Public Instruction", of this state office...if you don't believe me, call Sacramento...enjoy
According to their latest brochure, CPU has some interesting programs in the pipeline:

Quote:Coming in Fall 2013
· BSBA and MBA in Information Technology Management.
· BSBA and MBA in Natural Resource Management.
· BSBA and MBA in Church Management.
· BSBA and MBA in Rehabilitation and Home Health Managements.
· MBA in Oil Exploration and Heavy Equipment Management

Given the environmental extremism rampant in California today I wouldn't expect to find an Oil Exploration program available from a California school. Must be nice to study real world topics in a Luddite-free setting.

7 Online MBA Masters in Oil & Gas Programs No GMAT
Only one of these in the US. Nice potential niche program for CPU.
