On page 10 John Bear determines that "all of these schools have proper accreditation, whether it be regional, national, or international".
Why, for so many years, has John Bear said in public that there is no such thing as international accreditation? Clearly another deceitful lie to his readers.

... because there is NO such thing as 'international' accreditation...the old man lost it, or he's pimping a new 'school' he'll soon call degree mill, this great man who has done with degree mills more than Ham has ever done...sorry I mean 'against'.
Athabasca is both USA-RA & Canadian accredited, which makes it 'internationally accredited' I guess... , but in fact it just means one individual university applied for -and was granted- accreditation according to 2 different systems...it helps to think that in Canada provinces -not the State- are responsible for education, and Athabasca is 'accredited' in only 2 of them. They claim pursuing accreditation in other provinces would prove to be too burdensome and expensive, and they do NOT meet many conditions considered essential in some provinces. Degrees issued in one province -according to the regulation of the same- may not be completely bankable as it is in other provinces.
Some schools were accredited both by DETC and their local authorities...is that 'international'? Only in a misleading sense worth of some third rate infomercial...degree mills are known to (ab)use this terminology.

Difficult to tell, out of context like that, but isn't he just using the term "international" to mean "GAAP"? Coming early in the book, without an opportunity to explain terms in detail, he may have just been simplifying to avoid confusing a new reader.
In another version of Bear's Guide he acknowledges that GAAP is "a moving target."

Quote:It's important to recognize that no one in particular "determines" what GAAP is; by definition, it is the policies that are generally accepted and followed by a large majority of the relevant key decision-makers--university registrars and admissions officers, corporate human resources officers, and government agencies--that form the basis of these principles. Because there's no official body to determine what GAAP is, it is also a somewhat a "moving target."
So as much as I would enjoy seeing Bear caught in another whopper, this looks to me more like a case of taking generally something that might have been intended to have a more specific meaning. True, there is no "international accreditation," but there is GAAP, what the international community accepts as accredited (subject to change without notice).
For me Bear's vice is peddling degrees he knew were not accredited and had little or no general acceptance, promoting them as "good choices" in his books, and then denouncing the purchasers as criminals and "buffoons" for taking his word. Obviously I'm not alone in that conclusion, which is why he is enshrined here.

There is no "international accreditation." At least, not legitimate and recognized anywhere.
There ARE schools accredited (or comparably recognized) in multiple countries. THAT doesn't constitute "international accreditation." It means the schools are accredited in more than one place.
There is GAAP, but that's more of a concept than it is "international accreditation." The concept merely describes the kinds of recognition that tend to be accepted in other countries. But that's not the same as an international accrediting body.
Speaking of GAAP, the closest thing to "international accreditation" is being listed in one of the guides typically found acceptable across borders. IHU, The Commonwealth Yearbook, etc. But again, it isn't the publishers that are doing the accrediting, it is the individual countries and/or agencies.

This is unsettling. There is no such thing as international accreditation, so what is a self-appointed Expert doing talking about it as if it did?
I would rather, before jumping the gun, ask him about it, but what good answer could he possibly give?
OK, OK, I'll ask him via anonymous email. He'll probably brush me off, but its a question worth asking.

So then you are agreeing with Respectable Gent, that Bear is a liar?

Look, when Jack Fart was acting spokesman of the queer, gay&transgendered alliance, he said that those who opposed alternative sexuality were 'Nazis' who wanted all fags dead, and in fact word has it that Hitler killed 5.9 millions of them, too, because he was in cahoots with the pope. He referred to the bible as an impostor's collection of third hand Mesopotamian myths.
Later that year, Jack Fart brokered a bigger pay with the United Christian alliance. Jack Fart then thoroughly demonstrated how alternative sexuality is n.1 cause of mortality and how forensic archaeological evidence demonstrated how it is indeed true that Jesus turned water into wine one Monday afternoon. Hitler, after all, did kill 5.8 millions Christians because he was head to a homosexual cabal of deviants; even if late (muuuch late in fact), didn't the pope denounce him as Satan?
I am a bit worried that Jack Fart may be bargaining with the KKK for a summer stint...

Bear can't sly himself out of this one. For many years in the public he has been saying that there is no such thing as international accreditation, yet in his book he calls it "proper," and recommends internationally accredited schools to his readers.
