Degree Chat Closes

Sad to see that the degree.com discussion forum is closed.  This was the successor in interest to Robert J's DegreeBoard, one of the best DL discussion forums ever.  It did not fare well after the change in administration, being largely overtaken by spammers.  May the DL Gods impose a similar fate on the gay boy porn front Debris Inflow.

It shut down several days ago.
Come think of it (and NOT only in this niche), the last forums to go are those populated by phonies, perverts, middlemen and those in it to make a buck, with their retinue of mental cases serving as a chorus.

Anyone else remember an old discussion board called something like Online College Info?  IIRC, the owner got tired of the constant threats by the clones every time someone posted something they didn't like, and eventually he just shut it down.  You have to wonder if something similar happened again.  

I noticed that The Sphincter was getting a good deal of attention there, and lurking about as well.  That's just the sort of misogynist gutter snipe creep you would expect to be making cheap threats, although I wouldn't expect Sheila to be impressed.

The fact was, most activity was by spammers posting porn, chinese reebok and fake viagra...there was so much spam, one could hardly notice the one real post made now and then.

Running any kind of message board is not easy. You have to watch it carefully otherwise the spammers or other riff raff will take over.

And you have to keep it interesting otherwise people get bored with it.

I tried putting togeter several message boards and they all failed, mostly due to lack of interest.
