ITALY: distance learning under attack
#1
With several decades of delay, Italy entered the digital era of distance learning in 2006; several online universities were finally duly authorized to operate by then Berlusconi regime.
I was stunned to discover a real barrage, an epidemic of lawsuits, scandals and indignant newspaper articles suddenly discovering a swamp...a poisonous black hole made of kickbacks, dubious shareholders, boiler room enrollment scams and a host of other ills, with indignant journalist invoking then Prodi regime, with its vocal communist component, including former RIFONDAZIONE COMUNISTA secretary Bertinotti, then elected to chair the House.
That such unwanted side effects may at times be present cannot be questioned, but it's trivial...
It is suspicious how such indignant journalists never ran an unanimous campaign against the traditional B&M scene, in spite of recent scandals exposing the ruling cabal stuffed with political party minions, large crowds of relatives of eminent (and politically active) academics...
