I was thumbing through a health and fitness magazine and came across an advertizement for this service.

Earn a medical degree in China for $40 K, which is about a tenth of what it costs in the US.

And lets face it, having an MD is as high as you can get when to comes to getting respect. There is nothing more prestigious on earth than being a Doctor. To help your fellow man and be trusted by everyone.

But, that inner voice told me that this is not what it seems. If something seems to good to be true (to quote the BBB) it always is.

Now the comments read like anyone posted on any controversial educational program. Ex students will always post something positive and the rest will be skeptical.

I did send an email to this service asking some questions and was told to call the number.

I did not want to call since I know that I would be in for a long sales pitch and I really do not want to get hustled.

I find it interesting that this site talks a lot about a school but does not mention it by name. I believe it may be because they do not want students contacting the University directly. Or maybe its a very sophisticated Diploma Mill.

Am I correct in being suspicious of this service or is it legitimate? What do you think?

This is what happens when a cartel controls entry into a profession. American born, raised and educated students can't pursue their profession of choice because it is too expensive or too exclusive. They must either travel to some exotic locale or give it up.

Meanwhile, foreign born, raised and educated students are welcomed to the US with open arms and given all the free stuff they can carry or steal. What is wrong with this picture?

Well guess what, many people are actually going abroad for their careers. I heard an add on the radio for a TEFL Certification School. You fork over some bread, learn how to teach people to speak English and voila you got a job in China.

Not that I would not find it interesting to work and travel abroad. But when people can get a 60k a year job in the People's Republic of China when they cannot get a comparable job at home, you know something is messed up.

They say that 21st century will be China's century.

Maybe I should look for a school that teaches Mandarin.

The West has been offering lavish free education to all weird people on all provinces of the political or ethical spectrum. Many departments look like a page from a Teheran, Caracas, Amman or Bombay phone book; then go complain they have a nuclear program in Pyongyang, Teheran, Tripoli or wherever your scarecrow of the day happens to reside in, eh? Many of the radical revolutionary leaders of color of the 1950-60s were educated in the West.
The master race wanted to form a new breed of proxy rulers but I am under the impression it backfired.
