Louisiana Baptist University
I am wondering about the opinion of others regarding LBU. I am looking at their PhD in Bible-Theology program. Nothing to do with my job and I certainly need no PhD in my field. However, I have a big interest in Bible studies and theology. I want a program that is on-line or distance to accommodate my work schedule, and will allow me to delve deeper into Bible and theological studies. I'm a computer scientist so it is a 180 from my work.
Maybe others have another suggestion. I have a few RA master's degrees already and not really interested in getting another MS degree. Since LBU offers the PhD(unaccredited, though) in this, I figured it might be a better advancement for me degree-wise. Just search for opinions at this point. I like that the LBU program is affordable, too. Maybe others have different thoughts. I would love to hear them, please. |

Seems to enjoy good acceptance among the Bible/theology folks, which is where you like to see acceptance of a Bible/theology degree. Christians tend to get that accreditation is BS in the first place, so if anything the lack of accreditation helps rather than hurts. When they say "conservative" they mean "conservative," not "conservative passed through a socialist government filter." Plus this is a burgeoning program with 30 years experience and ABHE "affiliation" (not accreditation), so don't be surprised if they go ABHE or TRACS down the road. At $98/unit it's affordable relative to most. So if conservative Baptist is the brand you drink, bottoms up! |

RE: Louisiana Baptist University
Thanks much!
The Baptist theological bent is fine with me. What would TRACS, or ABHE, do for the school if after 30 years down the road they don't seem to care about accreditation? |

RE: Louisiana Baptist University
I also like the school because it is largely KJV based.
