Really? Wrote:If there is anyone who ever deserved the last word, it is you. Enjoy. Now that RCD has left here - again - what's betting he starts posting at DD and DI on a regular basis? |

RE: John Bear actually recommended Kennedy-Western?
We can't be too hard on Rich. He has provided us with much fun over the years, and he is correct that these discussions are pointless and of no value, but, like a moth to the flames
, we all seem to come back to the fire, don't we? What is a man without an enemy? A dog must have a cat and a cat a mouse. We have Rich. In fairness, I probably only meant about half of the bad things I said about him, and the rest, well, mostly that too, I guess. Old Bear himself was too easy a mark. He had said too many things too many different ways. I would bait the old con-artist and he would come on all hot and bothered saying he never did or said something, and I would quote one of his books and watch him melt in the sun and slide out of the way and let Huff-Lev-Rich scream and holler trying to distract me from the fresh kill. Bear might of been big stuff in his day, but now he is just past news, and no news is the best news. But let's be fair to old Richie. He may have been full of sh** but he did fight back well, except, not with Levicoff. For some reason Lev could tear him apart. Well, who is to say. Maybe the side saddle approach was too different for Rich, but nevertheless I applaud Rich for his helping us with this joint insanity that we have been on for 10-12 years. It's been a hell of a ride hasn't it. I sort of miss it and that ain't so good. There are better ways of spending a day, but here I am, AGAIN. Nice to see you posting Neil. James Oh, and by the way. No matter how Rich and his Lord and Master try to change the subject. Bear said it, wrote it, sold it, and can only, deny, and whine. The old goat told buyers of his books that it was a good-Legitimate school. Check out the 1995 book for the best of his, shall we say, fu** ups. ![]() Now of course dear old KWU was also in his other books as a real-legitimate school but we won't do the overkill thing just now. Having said it once is enough, though of course he fished these same waters much more than that. Of course Rich knows this as well as we do, don't you??

RE: John Bear actually recommended Kennedy-Western?
John was lazy and cheap. He did little research and really didn't give a damn how good or bad they were. If he was right, ok. If he was wrong, too bad. That's your problem. And it was very much a problem when he started going to AED and supporting the silly things Levicoff and the like were preaching. Bear provided the cover for them to attack people who had bought the guides and used the schools Bear had told us were good.
I can only guess that he didn't think people would bother to go back and check to see if he was telling the truth. Of course had he not started telling the story so very differently, others, like myself, probably wouldn't have even bothered doing a truth check. The man told us it would be sunny and then tries to take credit for predicting rain. |

I think we have a soft spot in our heart for Rich. Despite him being a thorough asshole, he did earn bachelor and PhD degrees by non-traditional means.

Bear says, "You want a book, you got a deadline, here's your book and on time. Oh, you want accuracy too? Well, you can't have everything. If the clowns doing the research screwed it up we'll just fix it in the next edition." That's why there are like nine thousand editions. |

Bear's guide -although not entirely worthless- were just like those funkly XYZ town weekly they hand out at street corners. Apparently a "serious" publication to guide you through the city, but in reality an excuse for making a dime on a bunch of ads promoting one place and demoting another.
